I would like to have one of my rifles SBRed for using a few different calibers with my AAC SDN-6. I have a 700 long and short action both trued and with pinned recoil lugs for use as switch barrel. But I am leaning more heavily toward using my only savage action for this as I can change out the bolt heads more readily to use any cartridge rim diameter that suits my fancy. I don't see any need to SBR a long action as I can't see making a 12 inch 300 winmag or the like but I thought I would ask to see if anybody had any tips or recommendations on doing this. This rifle would also run a 14 inch 308 barrel for suppressed hunting hogs. All actions have a full length picitany rail for scope mounting so that wouldn't change the choice.

you can SBR any action you want, barrel length is up to you too but spending $200 and wait 6-8 month for 2 inches makes no sense to me, i would rebarrel with a 1-8 twist 10 inch 308 and shoot 220 subsonic only.
cheers and hope this helps your project.

For shooting the 220's subsonic I was going to just use 300 AAC as I already have everything I would need and I wouldn't have to dig into my trailboss powder. I would rather use that in the pistols. The 308 barrel is going to be 14 inchs because I can get two of them real easy out of a single 28" blank without wasting any. I just want the ability to have short barrels I might just go with the savage because of the bolt head longer I think about it.

If you've got a QD type muzzle brake/flash hider for your suppressor...go with the 14" Savage, pin/weld the brake/flash hider for a max 16"...no stamp, and go shoot the snought out of it. I like the blackout a lot.
