Not sure if this is appropriate on this site - but here goes. I want to pick up a collapsible baton - like an ASP or one of its cousins for times when pistol concealed carry is taboo and when my knife might also draw unwanted attention. Does anyone have a preference for batons? Preferably something of a concealable size. Are these restricted the same as a gun - like in court houses, post offices, etc?

Completely depends on where you live. Also state laws may differ from your county or even city. Check into it.
What Graham says is valid. I used to have an ASP left over from work, so when I moved to another state I naturally brought it along. Then I found out that only on duty law enforcement people can carry a collapsable baton in Washington state.
