Maybe the highest-rated reviews I've ever decided to see 'on the blind'... I remember the Amazon rating was something like 97/0/0/1 when I saw it, and the '1' was for a bad disc or something.

Goodbye My Lady an excellent boy finds a stray dog gets attached and does the right thing when the rightfull owner comes to claim her. Old Yeller now who wouldn't be sad after watching this movie.

Well if we're trying to come up with touchy, feely movies I'd go with Apocolypto, odd but emotional movie. For pure gratuitous violence and entertainment it would have to be Pulp Fiction. Seen it a hundred times and still end up watching when I stumble on it.

My wife only likes chick flick type movies and it is one of her favorites.
I like it cause Jack Nicholson put's the gay neighbor's pooch in the trash chute and cause he says things to other people that we would all wish to say at just the right time.

"A Family Thing" with James Earl Jones and Robert Duvall was excellent.
"Green Mile" was also very good.
"Sleepers" was superb.

martial arts mixed with Mitchum and his shot gun
terrific cinematography
lots of exposition
but surprising twists
if you believe in an honor code and 'burden hardest to bear' (owing someone a debt that can't be repaid)...
this is a movie for you! slow cause its from the 70's, exposition heavy but I've been studying it cause it times certain key reveals in such a fashion that it takes a simple story and makes it rather complex...but still has such a strong theme that it resonated with me...perhaps cause I was raised to keep my word
