Gents: For the sake of simplicity, I will use shooter's minute of angle of 1 inch at 100 yards, 2 inches at 200 etc. With a 1/4 inch at 100 yards adjustment, I move the elevation turret 13 clicks up for 300 yards on a Leupold. The value of each click is .75 inches at this range so the shooter's minute of angle adjustment is .75 multiplied by 13 equals 9.75 m.o.a. right?

Re: Settle this Minute Of Angle Discussion

Forget you ever heard the term "shooter's minute of angle."

It doesn't exist. The proper term for that is Inch Per Hundred Yards, abbreviated IPHY.

If you had a scope with 0.25 IPHY clicks, with a 100 yard zero, and moved up 13 clicks, the point of aim would move up 13 * 0.75 inches at 300 yards.

But that value is just 13 * 0.25 IPHY, which is 3.25 IPHY.

In terms of MOA, that would be about 3.1 MOA.

Re: Settle this Minute Of Angle Discussion

Nope. 13 1/4 MOA clicks is easy to figure. 13 divided by 4 is 3.25 MOA. That is what you dialed on the scope. A 1/4 MOA is a 1/4 MOA but the inch conversion is different at different ranges. Your scope doesn't change click values.

Also some advice, stop thinking in clicks.

No dude, 13 clicks/4 clicks per inch = 3.25". For MOA: 3.25" * 1 MOA/1.047" = 3.104 MOA (or more simply, 3.25" * 95%).
