    I think it would be a good idea to start a Hide recommended gunsmith's (long guns) sticky thread, and give the guys that do excellent work some credit. It would be nice if it was broken down by state then city. If this isn't a good idea then It can be deleted. If so, let' s get it started.

    Brian Wick at Wick Custom Firearms located in Albion,Il. Does awesome work on tactical, BR, and varmint rifles. Also does great work on silhouette and xp100 projects.

    Geoff Corn at Match Armorers Shop, formerly located at Oakland City In, now in southeast Colorado. Tactical and varmint rifle, also a god on m14 nm work.
    I have a couple rifles built by each, all lazers. Quality of work is right there with GAP. Brian does awesome work on tikkas, my sporter is going in next week to get rebarreled. I am pretty lucky, Brian lives about 10 miles from me and always fits my projects in. Barrel went south a week ago, new one should be here monday and probably have the barrel action back by midweek.

    Here is another vote for Russell at Scout Supply Co, in LaGrange TX. He just finished up my second rifle from him, a .243 Shorty. I could not be happier.

    You guys could do it kinda like subguns.com did their recommended dealers list, took a certain number (5-10) of recomendations from members before the dealer was added. Kind of a vetting process.
     
    I busted out some my sniper magazines and it looks like the smiths at tacticalrifles.net put out some lasers. Also I seen em a few times on discover channel. Sticky this mods.

    Another vote for Jon Beanland! I've had 2 rifles built by Jon and the fit and finish are absolutely perfect and they are definitely shooters! On top of that Jon is a super nice guy with a wealth of knowledge and joy to visit with.

    Not a bad idea. In my opinion, i think we should have at the top of the list, the Premier or big dog list, then list the smaller guys that do great work broken down by state. If a few people want to call bullshit on someone's recommendation, or a smith's work starts heading south, we can remove them.

    Let me know what you guys think, and lets keep adding the good guys!

    Edit: Maybe at the bottom we could even have an "at your own risk" list too?

    Big +1 for Robert Gradous! Had him work over a stock R700 with his accurizing package and it is sweeeeeeeeeeeet. Once my Manners stock comes in, I'm gonna hand it over to him for full build with gre-tan blueprinting and all that. I can't wait!

    Without hesitation, the best experience that I have had with a gunsmith has been Aaron Roberts, at Roberts Precision Rifles in Spring, TX. He apprenticed under Clay Spencer, his machine work is the best that I have seen, and he turnaround is second to no one. He and his wife run very efficient shop, but most importantly, they are great to deal with. Do yourself a favor, and give him a call.

    man this is crazy, I have never heard of Louisiana Precision until this thread, and I live 45 minutes from Shreveport. I have to go there at least every other month to the VA hospital. So since reading about him on here today I have contacted him via email and requested were exactly he is at so I can visit in a few weeks when I return to the VA. Thanks for pointing this guy out to me.

    Shawn and Bradey have built me two custom rifles
    6.5x55 30" barrel on a 700 action and HS PST 026 stock

    338 Lapua Mag 29" on a Stiller action in an XLR chassis

    Both rifles shoot like lasers, and I have another in the works with them.
     
    Throw in another +1 for Jered at APA. He's the only smith i've done business with from here but it was an excellent experience.
     
    Greg at SPR in Florida "AKA Bugholes" needs mentioning here. He is on the Hide and his work is outstanding. The action work and barreling he did for me on a .308 build truely resulted in bugholes.

    Another vote for Aaron Roberts of RPRifles.com! He has built me 2 custom 6.5 Creedmoors and the quality and accuracy shows for itself. Best of all, he has great turnaround times!
