I've been pinching pennies for my first suppressor. I have friends with them and know all the legality issues, but I'm looking for some real world advise.

Can I share a .30 cal suppressor between my savage fcp-10 .308 and my arsenal sgl-21 ak chambered in 7.62x39?

I know all the bullet dimensions and that in theory it should work, but multiple people say that you have a high risk of a baffle strike if used on the ak. That mindset of the bullet immediately starts to tumble as it exits the barrel is the same old excuse every person that thinks this has used. I have seen ak's with suppresses before and I know you can put one on it. I'm just looking to be able to use one can for both weapons.

Can anyone weigh in on this? Hopefully I can get some recommendations as well. Let me know what you guys think.

The AK platform does not suppress that well, that being said you shouldn't have a problem putting a can on one though.

The main problem you may encounter is the threads not being concentric to the bore. I would have a competent gunsmith confirm the threads are concentric. Also a lot of the cans that are made for precision rifles are constructed of titanium. Titanium is great for a can meant to be used on a precision gun, but it does not hold up well to a lot of rapid fire.

That sounds pretty close to acceptable for what I'd use it for. The main purpose of this suppressor would be for my savage. But I didn't know if I could get away with using it on my ak the way most people use the 5.56 cans on AR's. Shoot 150-250 rounds in an afternoon for example. Is there anything that could be used on the ak like this. My next build is a .300 blk, mostly for hunting. But again that would be a fairly light use weapon usually. Do I have a chance or am I just screwed?

I think as long as you weren't doing mag dump after mag dump with the AK a titanium can like a TBAC 30P-1 would hold up just fine. Lots of guys run semi autos with cans and have some pretty long strings of fire and don't have any problems. I remember Zak Smith with TBAC once saying that if you keep the can below 800 or so degrees it will be fine. Maybe he will chime in and verify or shed some light.
