This was a bit of work. For whatever reason, this DBM refused to work when installed at the draft height on the bottom of the stock. The magazine hung almost a full .06" below the bottom of the bolt circle. So, out came the part. I modeled the original and added material, then machined a new one from scratch. This created its own set of issues. The notched step below the release had to be lowered. Thankfully, it all paid off. The rifle runs a Magpul 10rd exceptionally well. Very, very smooth running gun!

As usual, amazing work Chad! To me, that red pad just doesn't fit that rifle though. Still awesome, nonetheless.

I love that red pad on there.

Can you tell me about the ejection port mod?

Have some custom actions, but still have a soft spot for a well done 700, looks spectacular. Very functional build.

It's part of the "clip slot" process for the M40 style lugged optic base. If you go "here" on our store it walks you through the bulk of whats going on.

This image has been around for years on the interwebz and is allegedly a copy of a genuine Remington print for this process. Most of the dimensions are present, however it's pretty vauge and open to quite a bit of interpretation in spots. This is what I did the bulk of the programming with. As the service description details, there's never really been a "right" vs. "wrong" answer with this particular M700 wigit. It's been done for decades now by number of folks. I make no claims to being "period correct". In fact, I'll state plainly that it isn't. It's how LRI does it. Nothing more.

I do enjoy this kind of work though. Just kinda cool making parts and adding all this stuff to an old beater action and reviving it into something more relevant in today's shooting community. I sort of view this as taking an "old" 5.3L or LQ4 block from a bone yard and building a 1200 TT setup to lay hate in the 1/8th mile. Just kinda fun going this route instead of the typical off the shelf "custom" stuff.

To all: Thanks for the kind words.
