Hello All,

I'm trying to figure out if I've got unrealistic expectations or if I need to get some instruction. I understand that the basics become more important as recoil increases, and I think I've got the basics down pretty well. I've got a switch barrel rifle, and when I shoot 6.5 Creedmoor, I'm a consistent 1/2 MOA shooter at 100 yards (on a good day, I've shot multiple groups in the .25-.35 MOA range), and I can hit an 18"x30" silhouettte at 1k 8 out of 10 if conditions aren't too crazy. When I shoot the 300 PRC, I'm shooting .6-.75 MOA at 100 yards and 5 out of 10 at 1K. I'm shooting a heavy suppressed rifle, so I don't feel like I'm flinching. Do I just need to get some instruction, or is there something I'm not thinking about?

I'm using Hornady ELD Match for both calibers.

Thank you!

While it might sound basic, but I found the following things when I started shooting with my .300 WM rifle.
First of all it took me about 200 rounds to get used to it, but after that I was able to shoot sub Moa with it regularly.
I also found that I got a big POI shift depending on what clothing I had, in the summertime when shooting with a shirt or similar I usually was bang on centered. But in the spring and fall when I had my field jacket on, the recoil made the rifle slide slightly on my shoulder, it was hardly felt, but at 100 meters it showed and it gave me a 6" POI shift to the left. So I really had to keep this in mind, and I tried some different jackets with different fabrics which helped out. I also usually shot with more preload into the rifle / bipod, which helped.

Interesting, I hadn’t thought about increasing preload on the bipod.

Thank you!
