Guys, hello. I have a question about breaking in my SSG 08 A1 barrel tomorrow. I don't want to damage the barrel. I don't want another scene like with one of my brand new BMW's when I misinterpreted the oil gauge warning light and drove it thousands of miles with no oil in it and then pulled up to the dealership asking why is the engine shaking like that. That's a true story, sadly.
Now if I follow Steyr's manual for barrel break in it will look like this:
Why do I not need to oil the barrel after solvent? Wouldn't it strip the oil and be metal on metal?
These are my products for tomorrow. What if I applied FP10 after every cleaning? Is this Eliminator bore cleaner going to lubricate the barrel also?
Now if I follow Steyr's manual for barrel break in it will look like this:
- shoot three rounds
- clean with solvent, then use bronze brush, then more solvent until squeaky clean
- shoot five rounds
- clean with solvent, then use bronze brush, then more solvent until squeaky clean
- shoot five more rounds
- clean with solvent, then use bronze brush, then more solvent until squeaky clean
- finally, shoot ten more rounds
- clean with solvent, then use bronze brush, then more solvent until squeaky clean
Why do I not need to oil the barrel after solvent? Wouldn't it strip the oil and be metal on metal?
These are my products for tomorrow. What if I applied FP10 after every cleaning? Is this Eliminator bore cleaner going to lubricate the barrel also?
