I want to put together my first custom gun and I want it to be short action for a 7SAUM or maybe 6.5PRC. I want to build it off an ARC Archimedes, but the Archimedes is limited to a 2.94 magazine length and I want to use magazines by MDT (2.96 COAL without binder plate) or Accurate Mags (2.95 COAL).

Will the Archimedes be able to handle the magazines feeding at a slightly longer COAL without issue? Will it need to be modified? If not, would I be better served by using a Bighorn TL3 which can handle a 2.98 COAL?

Thanks in advance.

Depending on how the Archimedes feed ramp is situated in the action, you should be able to slightly open up the mag well on the underside to ensure it will feed out of a non-binder plate AICS magazine. With the action just being announced, I am a little surprised that it is not setup to run the non-binder plate magazines and you will probably have quite a wait time before you see it.

IMO I would order a Defiance or a Bighorn and get that running whilst you wait for the Archimedes to become available for purchase. You're gun, you're choice though ;)

They should work fine. The ARC mags are 2.970 inside measurement, I wouldn't think that ARC would make an action that doesn't work with their magazine.
