Hey guys, I've got a 6.5 creed built on a 700 action from a well known builder. For the past couple years I've been shooting factory 140 a max. Now that I'm going to start reloading, I got a Hornaday oal gauge and checking the chamber I'm getting only 2.64 COAL. Is this going to cause me any problems, or effect performance negatively loading at this length?

thanks for any input.

For the most part no. You always hand load to your chamber (hence reload data shouldn't benl haphazardly copied).

Your OAL of 2.64 I'm assuming is base to ogive.
Measurements seem fine; as long as you can mag feed at that length (and it's close to max mag length) it should be ideal.

Won't know until you post more measurements

I will get a picture in a magazine tomorrow.Loaded factory ammo has marks on the bullet fromy what I belive to be the lands when loaded rounds are ejected. Thanks for the input

I would shoot 10 rds with appropriate charge, new chambers can have shards of rifling jutting out skewing oal length, then remeasure, if still off, re-ream the throat to your desired seat depth. Mag length is .2.800+

Here is a picture of the oal, loaded in a magazine, and a factory round loaded in chamber with marks from lands. (Rifle has 240 rounds through it already)

That's a train wreck, see if your smith has a throating reamer, if not, find one who does. 240 rds shouldn't, but make sure you don't have a carbon ring buildup in the throat area also.
