I have a AICS in .338LM but am limited to 3.63. Should I just sell the stock and get a CIP model? Maybe switch bullets? I'd prefer to shoot 300gr SMKs but it seems like an awful long ways for it to jump.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this. Has anyone dealt with this and if so how did you make it work?

I'm sure someone out there has a pre-CIP AICS 1.5LA in .338LM who has loaded 300gr SMKs. If so did you have any problems? What COAL did you use? Load? Thanks a bunch!

I can't speak to issues with loading 300 SMKs in the non-CIP mags, but I have had no issues with the 250 SMKs loaded with a COAL of 3.625". That gives a jump to the lands of somewhere around 0.140" in my GAP rifle (don't remember the exact number, and my reloading notes are out in the shop). Accuracy is extremely good, and I'm able to run maximum charges without anything resembling a sign of high pressure.

Thanks for the response! I imagine the jump for a 300gr SMK wouldn't be that much difference.

Anyone else have experience in this matter? Would definitely appreciate input. With every stock maker moving to CIP length it makes me wonder if I'm missing out or should be considering a different bullet...
