So I was looking through the massive amounts of pictures posted from the 2014 GAP Grind and noticed a few different guys running a short sunshade on their Bushnell DMR and ERS scopes. The scope comes with a 4" sunshade and I know a lot of guys cut them (like George from GAP) but this got me thinking... Is there another option out there that doesn't involve cutting? Leupold makes a 2.5" 50mm sunshade that would be perfect, will that work? I'm hoping someone may be aware of some options for this.

On a side note, I think the pro/am format is fantastic and I hope to participate in the grind within the next few years! I big thanks to all the pros that teamed up with a new shooter, to the organizers as well as K&M and all the sponsors!!

FWIW, cutting a sunshade is easy to do. A Butler Creek cap will hide any imperfections.

Yeah I've done this with a dremmel on a few of my others, just wondering there was another option. Apparently the one in the pic was turned down on a lathe.

That's cool... If they newer scopes are coming with a shorter sunshade then that is great. I think 4" is excessive for any sunshade. 2-3" is perfect IMO. I already trimmed down my DMR shade with a dremmel, but I might be picking up an ERS, so hopefully it'll come with the shorter version.
