Forster Ultra BR, or if you want to shave a few $$$, the Forster BR (same sleeved setup, minus the micrometer top).

The Wilson works great, but generally requires a separate arbor press to operate (unless you feel like using a mallet, or in the case of really light neck tension, your hand) which kind of negates any cost savings.

who does that sort of work? Making the sporran from the animal's hide? </div></div>

I used to use Craigie Sporrans out of Punta Gorda, Florida, but I think they are no longer in business.

I had them make a really nice sporran for me out of some Martin hides. The sporran had three Martin (a large weasel) faces, and about 6-8 feet with claws where "bells" (they aren't really bells, but are called that) would be on the front of the sporran. It turned out really great.

Re: SHWW Group

Hey everybody, I'm bummed that I couldn't make the shoot today but work etc etc.

I wonder if anyone has a manners t-1 or t-2 that I can fondle. I'm thinking of ordering one and would like to get an example in my hands before doing so.

I'm in Wenatchee.

Thanks.

Re: SHWW Group

We had 19 shooters today, good turn out and outstanding weather.
worked out a few kinks for the Findlay Cup as well.
Couple of notes from the RO, as I've stated before, bring a field height bi-pod. These are field events not bench rest.
Tanks for all the help from the extra RO's and all that helped set up and tear down.

Re: SHWW Group

Prone, unsupported??? Sounds like a perfect situation for Viagra.

Re: SHWW Group

Had a great time at the match today. I still suck, but consistency is a good thing, right? A big thanks to Jesse and Jim for the match and to all the ROs. It was good to see akmike again. Congrats to JD for his 3rd place finish with the brand new KRG chassis. Well done. A beautiful day with great company and rifles. As good as it gets...

Re: SHWW Group

Jim and Jesse,
Thank you guys for the match again.

JD congrats on the shooting!! With a .308 by the way!! Glad the new stock worked for you. Looked like the KRG was firing on all cylinders, can't wait to get mine put together, and join the other 2 out there.

Looking forward to shooting with everyone next time.

Re: SHWW Group

JTP - what do you consider to be a field height bipod? Something along the lines of 18 inches? Or shorter? Or longer? Do you recommend shooting sticks?

Re: SHWW Group

Guys thanks for a great time, I did a little better then last time and today showed me some faults in my setup that will be fixed before the next match that I go to.

To the RO's thanks again for a great job, we couldn't do this with out you.

Heres a few random pictures I took,

Tried to Make you look tall Jim...didnt work.

Not to sure what to say about this one??????

Re: SHWW Group

Good shooting with you guys today. Thanks for all that put this match together, it was a lot of fun.

Would anyone be able to email me a copy of the scores?

Monte, forster BR dies should be here next week. Those seem like the perfect compromise between price and features. Although, I can't blame any of my equipment for anything today.

Re: SHWW Group

wow great weather and antics today. I was a little bummed no one got any hits on the blue targets, but we will have to work on that.

Good seeing ya guys again, see ya at the cup!

Scott, you are a bad ass sewing machine though!!

Re: SHWW Group

Thanks for all the hard work Jim and Jesse. It is much appreciated!!!!

I had a blast today. It was my funnest monthly match of the two I have been to so far. Some really cool targets and some VERY challenging stages. Well done on the stage layout

Re: SHWW Group

Hey, I'm looking for someone to shoot with. I live in Monroe and I have a couple of good places to shoot. so if anyone is up for it let me know. I guess pm me. Thanks

Re: SHWW Group

you looking to shoot westside or eastside? you are very close to alot of us westside steel shooters.

Re: SHWW Group

Howdy west-siders! I'm looking for more opptys to shoot steel to 1K+. I have steel (yay) and recently submitted membership paperwork and fees to both Rattlesnake and Douglas Ridge, but they are a bit of a drive.

I've been doing some google mapping to see if I can find anywhere closer but no hits yet.

I'll drive hours for it. I need the gun time! (elf needs food, badly!) I pack my garbage.

Anywhere suggestions?

Thanks,
Peter

Re: SHWW Group

Jake, thanks for the 1&2 place prizes, fitting for sure.
Bi-pod 9-13 notched swivel with pod lock or some variation there of.
Blue targets? They were everywhere?
Thanks for the help with the hight adjustment.
It didn't work..

Get ahold of JLR on this thread. He has a few of them. We run them on all of our rifles.

Re: SHWW Group

For JtP, that height of 'pod probably works for sitting/kneeling as well...
wink.gif

I may have to break down and get another bipod, even thought it gripes me to have to do so... over on that lower portion of the range with the firing point sloping down-hill and the targets up-hill across the draw is pretty much the *only* place I've ever ran out of room on my existing Harris BRMS... guess I need a BLMS like Jim described. I've got a GG&G that would be about the right height, but no notched legs which sucks. Looked like even some of the guys with Atlas pods were having problems as well.

Re: SHWW Group

For those of you out there that have a 6-9 harris and don't feel like buying a new one i would recommend just shooting off your backpack or shooting with bipod off the pack for added height.

Good idea... I'd thought about that, but I was under the impression (perhaps incorrectly) that we were still under (sorta) the old Findlay Cup rules - front support has to be attached to the gun ala bipod or sling. Maybe Jim or Jesse could clarify that point...

Re: SHWW Group

For the monthly matches the support doesn't need to be attached to the rifle the whole match. Each stage briefing will let you know what you can/can't use. Shooting off your pack is pretty commonly accepted in field type matches as far as I know.

Now you have my safe and my chrono ..... LOL. At least I NOW know someone with a chrono .... LOL.

I finished building my new loading bench and have some rounds all loaded up. Wanting to get out and shoot this week some time. Any of you local Kitsap area shooters want to get together at the Polsbo Shooting Club and shoot?? Let me know .... I'm free to go all this week.

Re: SHWW Group

Couple FC questions. Are you guys mostly staying at the Cedars Inn? I still need to book a place to stay.

What time does the match kick off on Saturday?

Re: SHWW Group

I'm staying at the cedars FWIW. Anyone want to split a ride from the Tacoma area?

What about secondary rests like packs, shooting sticks, etc? Can they be used if the bipod stays on the whole time and carried the whole match? Or no sticks, tripods, etc? I have no issue with all or none, just want to bring the right kit.

Re: SHWW Group

At the Findlay Cup, rear bags are OK. Front rest must be attached to the rifle for the entire match. It cannot be a back pack, sand bag, tri-pod, shooting sticks, Australian Pygmy and or midget, seeing eye dogs, Scooter store power chairs, skate boards, roller skates, small children, etc.It must be firmly attached, not with a string, rope, wire, dental floss, etc.
There will be a final e-mail going out this week with all the final details. I highly recommend you read it.

All that will be addressed in the next email. We're still working out the details on the COF and time stuff

Re: SHWW Group

Sign in times will be Friday 5-6 Pm and Saturday, 8-9am at the gun club.
Shooter meeting will be anounced in the e-mail but most likly 10 AM Saturday.
We are still finalizing a few minor details but these times should be good.
Worst case we would extend the sign in till 9:45 am Saturday.
Rough time frames are first shots fired at 11am, break for dinner around 6:00-6:30, night fire from 8:30-9:30pm Saturday. Sunday start around 8am.
Keep in mind we still have a few details to work out so these times are close only.

Ah, well. It's all for fun anyways, and I've got some options to look at over the next few matches. The odd-ball / field-expedient positions are what I like about this kind of match... even if I do struggle with them.

I told everybody at my stage, and you were there, you cannot use a support other than your body or a sling when shooting from the sitting position.
At the same time, there is a certain 'flavor' in a match, and we cannot possibly state everything that is approve/ not approved. We would need a lawyer and an hour to get each stage briefing done.

Re: SHWW Group

I understand that, Jim. Thats why I thought things were kept simple, ala front rests (bipods) attached to the gun, and I 'assumed' that applied to all the supported stages unless the RO specified otherwise. I never specifically *asked* about using back packs or ruck sacks because I was trying to not drive you guys crazy with too many questions - hard though that may be to believe
wink.gif

Re: SHWW Group

West side definitely. I actually have a few spots but no steel to bang on. I am definitely cool with trying some new places though. I appreciate that some of you guy's have already reached out to me.

Re: SHWW Group

Looks like I am a little late chiming in about the match, but great match! I too like the oddball positions Monte and each time I have shot one of these I come away needing to practice something new! I am sure after FC they'll be even more to practice! The Hidden Target stage was interesting and was cool to see your trace disappear behind the hill and then hear the "gong" afterwards! Doghouse is always a good stage to put you in different positions. I liked how the target in the left doghouse was setup in such a way that it was easier to transition to your lefthand to shoot it. Certainly something I need to work on more. Just a thought on the spinner stage that might improve scoring of it IMHO. Start points at 75 and remove 5 points for each miss. That way people that shoot it in 3 shots get 60, those that shoot it in 10 shots get 25. Rewards the better shooter a little more then how it is done presently. I also appreciated the stages where you had to move your point of aim numerous times in a cramped space. Difficult but realistic! Thanks again for the great match Jim and JLR!
