Gentlemen, I'm in the middle of a rifle build and need all the cash I can earn. Extra cash is just nice to have anyway.

I used to work at Taco Bell after being released for the day, but the hours proved too demanding for me to handle.

For those out there who are/have been active duty and worked second jobs, what kind of work did you do, or what kind of ideas did you have that you never really pursued for extra $$$?

Avg. day for my Bn. is 0545-1600

Re: Side job for Marines?

I'm not on active duty but I still work on the side doing computer repair, personal $65/hr, business $125/hr ...

I also used to do on the side mechanic work...

I don't work many hours but it still pays good....

Re: Side job for Marines?

Not really big enough to bounce....

Really just looking for general labor with flexable hours.

No real skills outside of weapons knowledge...and residential electricity.

Re: Side job for Marines?

how about go work at Dicks or something try and get behind the gun counter or something? Or i know, the movie theater, id come up there and make fun of you to no end with your little red vest

Bwahahahahahahaha

Re: Side job for Marines?

OK, so there is labor out there to be had I now see.

I'll just have to go give them a visit and see how flexable a schedule I can coax them into.

And BTW Austin, I'de wear a pink vest with a dunce hat for some titty staring AND a paycheck.

ETA: Oh and thanks for the suggestions gents.

Re: Side job for Marines?

Buy a pressure washer, some of those magnetic stickers for your truck and a rake for all the money you'll make bringing the new back to peoples driveways, walkways, porches, patios, fences and decks. My cousin was laid off for a few months and did that, he would pick up about $200 for a few hours worth of work. If you do someones driveway and walkway throw the sidewalk and curb in for free. When the neighbor comes home and sees how dirty his concrete looks compared to the one you just did he'll either get to pressure washing or give you a call. One good thing is that you can pretty much set your own schedule and you have customers instead of a boss. Banks, resturants and small businesses always want their buildings to look clean and presentable so I imagine they'd be good potential customers too but may require you to be a licensed/insured business to work on their property.

Re: Side job for Marines?

I work one weekend a month over here at Flatwoods range. It pays for my reloading and gets me most of the brass that I'd need for free.

I've been in now for a day or three, and don't really need a second job, especially with work that somehow always follows me home. But it does get me out of the house so for that I'm thankful.

Average day for me at work is 0545-1700, but my boys have a typical day of 0600-1630.

Re: Side job for Marines?

I used to wash Charter Buses. I would get off at 1630 and go home and nap until about 2030 and then go in when the buses returned from their trips and wash about 4-5 40 footers a night and then get up at 0600 and do it all over again. Find something you enjoy so atleast you'll be happy being tired all the time.

Re: Side job for Marines?

oh, to be single again. The money is so much easier when time is so much freer. How do you spell freer? Naw, I'ld rather not be single again.

Go sell guns and stuff. You can laugh at people's stupid comments after they leave.

you wanna be careful, you could come out on the wrong end of that deal. i worked in hotels for a long time here in my town. depending on the place, we would either have a security guard on all night on third shift or at least a patrol coming by every so often. our grocery has a security guard sitting on a bench by the door. just sitting there. never seen them do anything or stop anybody, they just sit there getting paid hourly. at the hotel the guy would hang out and do homework and BS with me. we would go make a sanwhich or grab a pop from the kitchen. it was cush for him, company for me.

Re: Side job for Marines?

I called the Taco Bell I used to work at on Marine Blvd and Piney Green...still horrible hours.

I need to get ahold of Wally World about being a shelf stuffer...seems stress free enough.

Re: Side job for Marines?

WW. The PCS orders come through a lot. Hit the yard sales in all of base housing and offer cash (with a story about how you have 12 kids on low pay). The SNCO's will tell you to suck it up but in officer housing you can get some incredible deals or giveaways. Take nice pictures. Sell it online. Bank the cash. Repeat.

i'm no marine, but i did custom tile, hardwood sand/refinish, computer repair, auto detailing, and various other jobs. i advertise on craigslist. got $10/hr for construction with buddies & i charge $30/hr for computer repair (hey old lady your wireless keyboard don't work b/c the fucking batteries are dead! $30 plz). i charge $45 for sedans & $60 for suv detailing (wash, vacuum, & spray wax). good side money, i work 9-5 and do that stuff in my off time, if i'm strapped for cash or want a new toy
