Sidearms, if you have a choice while on duty, what do you carry?

I want to start this out by saying, I'm not asking people to change my mind on what I carry. I'm just looking to see what other people, who have a choice, carry. My department allows me to carry my own pistol or I can carry an issued Glock. I have chose to carry one of my personal pistols and I don't worry about losing it if I have to use it. I carry my personal pistol because I have way more round through it myself, than I would probably ever have with a department issued pistol. So like I said, I don't need to hear why I "should" carry what, I just want to know what you carry, whether or not it's personal or department issued, and what your feelings on personal vs. dept issue.

Hi,

So you do NOT care enough about peoples opinions on "what" to carry but you are requesting peoples opinions on carrying personal vs dept issue????

Irony Much?????

Sincerely,
Theis
Well, they sound like two separate points to me, but if it's too confusing for you, you could always just scroll on. You're obviously not here to add anything productive. Thanks for your attempt at an observation though friend (y)

That's one way to make a first impression as a new member on this board...

Thanks, it was meant as a joke. I thought this was a group of big boys who might take the razzing ok. I do realize that it's a little harder to pick up on sarcasm through text though lol.

It's not about being 'big boys'... Sometimes things DO get misconstrued even if they start off with good intentions. And when things get misconstrued, a lot of times gasoline, instead of water, gets dumped on the fire, usually by the OP himself. Not saying you are that type of fella', it's an observation of historical patterns on this and a couple of other major gun boards...

I can either pull the thread down, or reword it. Like i said, I wasn't trying to piss anyone off. again, I apologize for my poor attempt to be funny.

Nah you good, as your followup posts show that you are not intending to antagonize or drive a wedge. I am just another good ol' boy here, not a mod or anything. Just helpin' ya' out a little. Welcome to the campfire.

Nice choice. Im not LE but I carry a Glock 30 *sub compact with 10+1 45 ACP). Used to carry a 1911 but the G30 changed me quickly.

OP, what do you carry?

Diehard of the Church of John Moses Browning here... However, being fully 'traditional' has it's minor downsides. My Auto-Ordnance PKZ is one noble warhorse of a .45 ACP slinger, but there are no underbarrel accessory rails and it will not look right at all with rails on it. As a matter of fact, ANY WWI-WWII-era original or repro with a pic rail is going to get a

reaction from me immediately.

For a duty gun, I'd like to mall ninja that sumbitch' out a bit and Glocks are the ideal weapon for that. Next contender would be a M&P. Love the grips on that one.

I carry my FNX for duty, but I always loved the way the M&Ps shot and felt. I'm much better with the FNX though.

Agree with that fully. Can't really go wrong with these types of grips...

You use what you are much more familiar with though. In the end when you are facing a life or death situation, the last thing you want on your mind is "I should have brought my other gun today"...

I also like the modularity of the grips on the M&Ps more so than other pistols, it felt like a real difference than some of the others ?‍♂️

Pumps are for fags.

Pink Chucks are for man nurses.......

And my Glocks are all black. Find better deals when I dont get a pink one to match my kicks. Of course I wear gray or black shoes most days.....

Pink in October. My mom is a cancer survivor. As are several friends from work.
Ummm, those look Salmon to me.
Survivor here as well

@Ravenworks

the fact you listed a color outside of the 8 normal ones is quite telling..... I don't care, just always interesting to find out. ?

I say this and accept it is perfectly normal to be able to identify 20 different camo patterns.

I always tell the women in my office flannel is my favorite color, closely followed by camo. They get all bent and talk about who nice sharply dressed men look. I put on my noise cancelling headphones and listen to some music.

It's the beards. That's it.

I must say. I find it amusing that the new guy comes in with the perfect attitude and the very same folks that like to jump on others for being snowflakes can't handle it.
To the OP keep the irreverent attitude and tell the self important jerks to kiss your ass

Hi,

Ok so the OP has edited his thread that screamed "Troll" so here is my opinion on the personal owned carry vs department owned carry as a LEO's primary duty weapon...

I do not and cannot ever see a justification/reasoning of the personal owned carry (That is different make/model than Dept) that would trump the justification/reasoning of department owned based on purely UNIFORMITY concept alone!!

Kind of like the CPB Exodus Team member at IAH airport calling me asking if the Para Ordnance magazines he found for great price online would work in his issued Glock...........

Sincerely,
Theis

So many LE are now all tatted steroid MMA fighters these days if you go by all the video's. They should be carrying High Point 40's with Punisher Cerakote on them. Nothing can be more embarrassing than getting yeeted by a High Point or XD with a punisher cerkote on it. No Valhalla for you!

Yeet, yeet, yeet ...
