hi there.
What's a good price on a new sig 226?
I've never owned one, but my father has one and I love it.
I've not been out to price them at the local shops, but was just wondering what to expect in terms of $$$
I know there are a ton of options, but what's a good base price from your experience (.40 cal)

Re: Sig 226 price?

One the best vendor to score and price Sigs is Top Gun Supply:

Here some 226 40's:

P226R 40 S&W

If your open to a suggestion, in a number of ways the 229 is a better platform for a 40 S&W than a 226. After all the 229 was designed around the 40, where as the 226 was designed around the 9mm.

The "best" bargain, IMHO is this Sig 229 in 40 S&W:

P229R SCT

It may be $200. more than the 226, but it comes with four 14 round mags and night sights. That's a lot of stuff for $200. considering the mags sell for around $45 a pop and NS for over $100.

Both the 226 and 229 are solid and reliable.

Bob

PS I have a P220 ST in 45 ACP and a P229 in 40 S&W

By saying "a ton of options" I'm surmising you know there are many MANY variations on the P226 platform?? Basically from the old original all the way to a factory produced USPSA limited pistol!! All nice, but what suits your needs?

So a base model, no frills, expect to pay no less than $700 (I'll be assuming all new prices as you can look on gunbroker for used ones.) Some dealers will have the Sig refurbs, I believe they have a red tag around the grip. Depending on the dealer, that can save you a bit of money too.

I've had a P220, P229 and P230. No longer have any, but not because the guns were bad. I just had to make choices along the way. A Sig would be my second choice after a Glock for my duty pistol(G21SF for now.)

Make sure you try all the triggers too!! I personally really like the DAK trigger. I find it to be smooth and controllable!

Good luck!

Re: Sig 226 price?

Thanks guys.
Solid advice as always.
I did not like the DAK when I shot it, but it was not mine and I did not live with it for more than a few hours at the range.
I'll start looking into the 229 and 226 at my local stores.

Thanks again!

Re: Sig 226 price?

Keep your eye on Summit Guns as mentioned above and Buds Gun Shop online. They both sell used guns at good prices. I picked up a great condition W.German 9mm 226 w/ night sights for $380 a few years ago. Love it!
