Sig Cross

Mine is a post recall version. I wouldn't change a thing except from a 6.5 CM to a 6mm CM. :)
Nothing to brag about but it showed some promise my first day out with it. Fired 7 rounds-the 3 shot group in the pic are rounds 5-7.
Neat little rifle.

I feel the same way. If someone had 6CM fluted or carbon fiber prefit barrels 20" long with the barrel extension so it was a easy as changing an AR barrel, I would have one.

Seems like Dave Tooley is the guy you want to contact:

He stated elsewhere in the thread that he is obtaining barrel extensions directly from Sig, so they are drop-in replacements.

rumor is Colorado gunsmith is producing sig cross bolt heads with 223 dimensions
the AI style mags (308 size with 223 inserts) can be had from different OEMS. barrels in 223, 204 ruger,
etc are easy to procure. Use standard sig cross barrel extension….
anyone doing barrel extension? Sig isnt supplying any beyond what comes with rifle. You can swap it from your original barrel, at least for now

Which gunsmith is doing heads and where do you get the barrel?

im looking into getting barrels made. There is a thread here where barrels were profiled to ft sig, in
6CRM. I believe you can order them from schees. You have to reuse the barrel extension from your orig
barrel. 223 barrels would follow same process, just starting with 22 blanks
as for bolt heads, thats a skunk works effort at this point. The smith is building a prototype, for testing.
a small run is planned from CNC shop, to test demand. Prices haven't been established yet. Barrel extensions could follow, depending on SIGs availability
anyone interested? Or is this just destined to be a one-off?

I think it's alot of work, like re designing the rifle with the bolt change - and money. I guess it depends on what you want to use the rifle for. I think Sig choose the right calibers for this rifle as a hunting rifle, and it is just that. Some rifles I admit can have "dual role" capability, but I don't see the Cross as anything but a hunting rifle.

I first purchased my Cross for hunting, but I target shoot alot more than I hunt. In fact I haven't hunted in a few years - but I wanna kill some feral hogs asap!!!I started target shooting with it and found out quickly it's not really set up for target shooting at all, especially when I'm used to my regular shooter which is a 22lbs 6cm. So it sits in my safe for a hunt, but I shoot it occasionally.

In my case, a local smith is working on a 223 conversion kit. He is machining bolt head, barrel extension and then will chamber and profile a 223 barrel blank. Im getting one with a 1 in 9 twist. Ill be able to shoot 55’s for both practice and as a light varmint rifle. I did procure a barrel change tool direct from sig (pricey, but no one else makes them). ill be able to switch barrels, bolt heads between 6.5cdm, 223.

All still good with mine. Older photo here, but after adding a Area 419 brake, I like the less recoil. 6.5CM 3-shots 100yds
