I got a good deal on a DMR II which is on its way. I really don't need both scopes so I was wondering what peoples views are on these two scopes?

I don't need illumination (the DMR II isn't the "i" model) and it only weighs 2oz more than the Sig so weight isn't a big deal. I'd need to buy rings though since I don't have any spare 34mm rings.

I have owned an original DMR in the past as well as a 3-12 LRHS. I also currently own a 3-12 LRTSi that seems like a nice optic too. The reticle is better to me on the DMR II and the fat that it has 10MIL turrets is nice as well. This will be going on a Bighorn TL-2 in 223Rem out to 600yds at most.

I figured I could sell the Sig and recoup some of my money.

I would absolutely sell the sig. the only thing I kind of don’t like about the dmr2 is the weight and you already addressed that compared to the sig.

The DMR 2 is a nice scope for the money as long as you’re willing to deal with SEVERE chromatic aberration. It’s some of the worst that I’ve seen in any scope around that price range. Whites turn to blue very easily, which is a shame because otherwise the glass is very nice.

The Tango 6 glass is very underrated for what it is, so I think I would give it the nod as far as clarity is concerned (subjective). I think you will feel the Bushy gives you slightly better turret feel and reticle options however.

You’ll have the luxury of having both in your hands at the same time, so sell whichever one you don’t prefer.

Have you looked at multiple samples of the dmr2? Is it possible you just got a bad one? I ask cause the CA in mine isn’t bad at all.

I guess it’s possible. I’ve looked through a few of them and they’ve all been pretty bad as far as CA is concerned. I didn’t compare them side by side but I noticed it in all of them pretty quickly. I think different eyes, conditions, magnification, etc. have a lot to do with it

Bright white targets have a bluish/purple glow to them around the edges. Doesn’t have any effect on shooting ability as far as I can tell but it sure is annoying to look at.

That's good to know ILya...thanks!

I have the Sig, a Gen II Razor, and a 3-12 LRTSi that I can compare it too so I guess it would make sense to do just that.

I'm not exactly a glass "snob" though and my vision sucks enough that even with glasses I don't really notice much difference from say the Sig to the Gen II Razor so I don't know that the DMR II would really bother me unless it was really, really bad.

My main concerns are tracking accuracy and reliability with scopes.

The DMRII showed up and I have to say the glass on mine is excellent. Edge to edge clarity is great and the image doesn't dim at 21x like my original DMR did which is awesome!

There is tunneling up to 4.5x but oh well. There is also a little CA if you don't have your sight picture right but it disappears when you get centered.

The eyebox seems very forgiving at 21x as well. I'd say it is even better than my Gen II Razor actually.

The turrets are very tactile but not extremely loud. They are crisp though and I honestly don't care about being able to hear the clicks.

The magnification ring as well as parallax knobs are like butter too (again better than my Gen II Razor).

I had thought about selling it or sending it back but I won't be able to bring myself to do that and it is going to live on my Bighorn TL2 in 223 now after I grab some M10 rings.

The Sig is going to have to find a new home sadly but that's life.

I must have hit the DMR II lottery with my sample of 1

ETA: My observations are from 100-800yds on an overcast day looking at white, green, yellow, etc objects (one is a grain elevator) and I am quite impressed. The not dimming at 21x is the most impressive thing to me honestly.

I currently have it mounted similar to where I’ve mounted my mk4 and viper.

I have an HDMRII going on a 6.5 PRC... just waiting on the MPA to get here! And I agree, great scope for the money. They handle bright and dark light conditions well and track awesome.
