Gentleman i was thinking about purchasing a new m400 series rifle. There are 4 variants i am torn on (m400, m400 srp, m400 swat, and the m400 weld which i am leaning towards. I also like the M&P series. Which one is a better bang for the buck? If anyone has much time behind any of these give me thoughts please.

Re: sig sauer m400 series whos got one

Can't really say which one is the most bang for the buck, but I've owned, own and have assembled a lot of ARs since the early 90s to present. I bought one of the M400 Enhanced models new for $930 out the door, I think it's a good buy. Especially with some of the lower receiver enhancements offered.

However, I do have an issue with the rear sight that is specific to the "Enhanced" model, the windage adjustment moves a little too easily and the peep flips between the large and small aperture a little too easily. It moves easily enough I threw on another rear sight I had laying around. I intend to send the sight back to Sig for them to look over as it's definitely too easily moved to be relied upon for any serious use. With that I hope the sight is not a typical representation of this specific model.

I have handled and shot the m&p and the 400 enhanced. IMO, the are both about equal in about every category. The finish, reliability, and accuracy were all very acceptable. I like the Sig lowers better. I also like the price of the Sigs. They are a little cheaper than than comparable rifles.
