Hi everyone,i just ordered a Kidd .22 for my son.looking for a optic.this will be just for paper punching @ 50 & 100 yards.i have narrowed it to Sightron S3 8-32x56,Meopta optika6 4.5-27 & Athlon Midas Btr Gen 2 4.5-27x50,the Athlon is $550,$900 for the Sightron and $650 for the Meopta, would love some input if you own one of these

The sightron will be a Japanese made scope with glass that punches above the price tag.

I had a SII that the windage died after 15 years and who knows how many rifles. They sent me a new scope.

The athlon is Chinese made and has glass that is better than the price suggests. They have a clear warranty and track record of taking care of people.

The sightron is in a class above the athlon, but it's also a price bracket up.

I would also like info on the optika,
As said above the Athlon for the same money as the SIII won’t have as good a glass , when I sat behind my SIII for a while the other scopes were dull , lol

I have both. If punching paper is all that will be required of the scope and out to 100 yards the Sightron S3 with a 1/8" dot would serve him best. The extra magnification would come in handy.

If hunting would be tossed in then most definitely the Optica6 with Dicrotec dot reticle.

IMO one is as good as the other in all areas. That's the way my eyes see it.

The Meopta 4.5-27 fills a dumb area. Unless you love a reticle that's only available in the 4.5, the 5x is a much better option. The 5-30 has a better fov even though it has higher mag, better reticle options, more adjustment range, while only being slightly heavier and longer.
