Im sure this comparison has been discussed before on Snipers Hide but since i didnt see any such thread right away i decided to pose my question to the committee here.

I have a Rem 700 sps tactical with a NF scope on it and wanting to bite the bullet on jumping through the hopes to get my first suppressor. I have briefly touched base with my neighborhood suppressor shop about my options and they emphatically recommended the Thunderbeast 30BA for my set up stating that it focused on accuracy (figuring that having a NF scope meant keep accuracy as a priority...and they were correct to assume as much). The only problem is the Thunderbeast costs almost $1,200 before the tax stamp! So i ask, does anyone know how the Liberty Freedom ($650) or YHM Phantom SS ($600) might perform for my application and does it stack up in terms of db and accuracy to the TB?

Yeah about 145 less...good call. This still puts the cost right at a grand. The main noob difference i see is that we are comparing titanium vs SS but is that worth 400 extra? Also is the thuderbeast know as the "accurate suppressor" for 7.62 or do the other suppressors mentioned stack up?

There are plenty of threads on here discussing the accuracy of the Thunderbeast. No need to beat a dead horse but they are probably the most accurate precision can on the market at this point and CS is just as good.

I'd buy a Thunderbeast just on principle. I've driven Zak crazy with emails about all sorts of things and he always responds promptly and with sound information. You aren't going to get that elsewhere. It helps that their cans are as good as it gets.

Im another Thunderbeast Customer. I have a 30BA, with brakes on my 308 bolt action and on my AR-15 as well. Couldnt be happier with the performance of the can. sometimes, just for S&G's i throw it on my 10/22 and shoot some through it. all of it is just really quiet, no hearing pro needed, and rock solid mounting with repeatable POI shift. I wouldnt trade it for any other 30 cal can even if you threw in cash money.

i also have a 22L-1 on order.... which reminds me I need to email my dealer about an order number so i can track that bad boy.

i wish i would have bought a TBAC instead of my YHM for my 5R.

spend the money now, because if not, you are going to end up buying a TBAC after you have buyers remorse from buying the YHM. in the long run you will end up spending $2000 and have over a year invested instead of just biting the bullet the first time.

YHM $600 + $200 tax
TBAC $1000 + $200 tax
-------------------------
total $2000 (plus the constant "what do i do" syndrum.

When you talk about accuracy are you speaking about lack of POI shift between suppresses and unsuppressed?

My YHM has a slightly greater POi shift than what I've seen reported for the TBAC but I would not say one is any more accurate than the other.

A) Don't sweat the DBs - they are all close enough functionally speaking not to care
B) Do sweat the accuracy both of the can and who you have thread the barrel
C) Concern yourself with the mount type - single points are typically more accurate, but some 'mounts' are pretty impressive (and some are notorious for problems)
D) SS vs TI - Ti is nice if you are doing anything other than shooting prone - pretty good weight difference between the two
E) TBAC has a great reputation and is a very good price point for TI. For an affordable very accurate SS model check out SRT.
F) Read as many reviews as you can here; beware of fanbois (fewer here than some other spots around the Al Gore created inter web)

Good luck

I have a YHM .30cal SS Phantom (had it for about 4 years now)....and I've got a 30P-1 on order.

The YHM was heavy and gave me a lot of POI shift from un-suppressed to suppressed....it was also too heavy for my liking. After shooting my buddy's Ti SAS can, I learned a hard lesson in "cry once" purchasing.

That being said, the YHM can still held a good group while shooting and suppressed the noise just fine. If you plan to leave the can on all the time and shoot stationary then the YHM will be fine.
If you want least amount of POI shift and not have almost 2lbs on the end of your barrel, pay the extra money and get a titanium can.

With all the excessive NFA wait times and the political climate changes...get the best you can afford the first time around because you may not be able to get it when you want it most.

i gotta disagree with this. because of the long lead times, why would you want to pay for something and wait that long for something thats sub-standard?
