I had high expectations...and was let down. My biggest peeve was that I was expecting a "Bond" movie...not a personal vendetta. Plot was very cheap and unimaginative, and not "Bond-ish" at all. 143 minutes, and not a whole lot actually happens. His past? Don't care.
I also enjoyed Moneypenny coming back. As long as they keep the gadgets "realistic", few and far between, and not the major plot of the movie, I'll enjoy them too. Yes, the PPK. We as gun people know there's better choices...but come on, it's a movie, and it's Bond! What's Bond without his PPK!?
I realize this ended up a rant, but after typing all that I'm not just going to delete it! Too each their own. Everyone I saw it with loved it. I was underwhelmed. But in homage to Casino Royale we did make a 'tux night' out of it, and you wouldn't believe how many women are willing to hand over their phone numbers when you look as good in a tux as I do

100% Agree. I saw it a second time and it's alright just nowhere near the hype that was built around it. And honestly with the cast it had it should've been the best bond film ever made IMO. Mendes as much as i love him failed on a major account the script. A friend of mine asked me how i felt it was rushed when it was 2hrs 20min the problem he has is that how long the movie is doesn't correlate with time elapsed in the movie. The Dark Knight Rises is a prime example Nolan shoves a ton of crap in that film, it's still good but could've been better. Kingdom of Heaven is another one the theatrical version is damn near 3hrs long the directors cut is 3hrs 30minutes yet the ratings for them are vastly different. Skyfall started out really great just like the previous two films. Then when Marhloe dies it never really picks back up IMO. I also couldn't stand the standoff at the house? I mean WTF, you have people at MI6 leading Bardem to their location. Hence three people know where M and Bond are, why not send backup? Also why doesn't bond prepare before goes there(get weapons)? How does Bardem survive cyanide? Also there is mention of the CIA tracking Patrice to Shanghi yet Felix isn't reintroduced? Especially after he is now director of the CIA (after QoS) i know it's not related to Casino Royale or QoS but i liked the cooperation between the CIA and MI6.
What's funny is Martin Campbell has directed two different bond movies the first for both actors (Pierce and Craig) why the hell isn't he just on board? Goldeneye despite it's less serious tone is still a pretty classic Bond movie. Casino Royale one of if not the best Bond ever. I wish he'd come back for the next installment i'd like to see what he could do with this cast.
Casino Royale by far my favorite. Lol i didn't think about doing a tux tribute...damn should've done that.
Despite my griping and disappointment i do love Adele's Skyfall intro it's awesome.
