This is a postal match, where you shoot the targets I send you on your home range, then send them in to be scored.

Participating in this match also helps raise money for AmericanSnipers.org. In three years of contributing part of the entry fee to AmericanSnipers.org, we have raised almost $6500 which has been used to buy gear for our soldiers in harm’s way!

More info below and on the website.

Good luck!

DEADLINES

I have added an entry POSTMARK DEADLINE so there is an actual cutoff so I don't have people sending entries with 5 days left. With the deadline where it is, someone entering at the deadline will still have a minimum of 2 weekends to shoot. This means your entry needs to be POSTMARKED by the date listed to be entered in the current match.

The target return deadline needs to be adhered to so I can get the results posted in a timely manner. This is also a POSTMARK DEADLINE

PRIZES

Prizes are donated by generous and willing vendors, so please don't forget them when you need to buy some gear. Prizes are given away as a raffle using the completed targets you send back. So there is no incentive to cheat, as the winner has no assurance of getting any prizes. If you send back a completed target in both RIMFIRE and CENTERFIRE class, you have 2 chances to win.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Might as well post in the relevant thread. I'm in for 4 cf targets. Payment sent. Can't wait.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

I still don't understand how and who gets prizes. Is it just the winner that gets the prize?

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Your best target is a lottery ticket. You can submit one each of the Rimfire and Centerfire for the prizes listed. They are randomly drawn so there is no advantage to cheat your scores. Lowest score could win best prize and best score could win nothing but bragging rights. All for a good cause though.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Its random so it discourages cheating. For first place you get bragging rights. The website is listed above. Go to it, it tells what this is all about and the foundation you're helping.

Edit: someone beat me to it. Haha

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

JB,

I'm back after a long hiatus from the "Smack The Smiley" matches. My schedule is again allowing me some range time.

I'm in for 4 center fire targets!

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

JB, I keep getting more and more people buying targets for the matches. The problem is they all want to use my rifles. LOL Is this allowed or do I need to tell them to use theirs? I dont want my barrels to burn out to quick. Keep up the great work

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

JB, remind me if I need to send out Certificates or anything again. I have a hard time remembering what comps to send what to and when.

Thanks

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Keith,

You are good, I have everyone's donations now, thanks for checking though.

Donnie - good to see the fam is still diggin' it
smile.gif

JCV - no gun rules other than class, so if you are going to let them use your rifle, then that is fine. Though if you need to make up a rule to get them to use their own, go ahead

Happy 4th!

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

ok maybe I'm retarded. am I supposed to aim at the center of the circle, or aim for the smilie? I know it s stupid question, I just can't wrap my head around it.

I will be doing it in the desert on a mat cause my range here calls cease fires once about every 3 hours...ugh.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

It is a gamble...and up to you. The smilies are closer to the edge but get you extra points...but getting it totally in the white gets you extra points...so you try and do both to get the most points.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Thanks DK , its a HOOT and I had a blast . Humbling also .

Its good practice , rather than shooting groups .

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

ok, on groups...do i measure overall or do i measure center to center?

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Groups are center to center...or easier, far edge to far edge...

All received entries are on the website!

Good luck!

JB

well that is 20 points difference there...so i guess ill do center to center

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Can't be different...they must be the same. Do not subtract a whole caliber from the OD for C-to-C, subtract the size of the hole that is actually made...

JB

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

that is why i asked, cuase 20 points is 20 points, and when i do group sizes i do center to center, subtracting the hole size

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Well I shot my targets with a couple of buddies and it was not as pretty as last match but we definitely had tons of fun. CJ (jcolev) did pretty good this time, I am excited to see his scores. Thanks for the opportunity Jason. Good luck guys

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Got my 4 targets in the mail today, now looking forward to getting to the range in the next few days to have some fun/challenge myself with these and my new AI AE that I just got last week...
