Curious who here uses a small fixed blade as their everyday carry knife? What are the cons / issues you have ran into in doing so? What knives are you liking the most & why? I haven’t ever owned a small fixed blade to carry but I think I would like to give it a shot. I don’t want anything “tactical” or whatever, just a quality comfortable functional knife for daily use.

My primary carry is a fixed blade in my front pocket. When done correctly they are very comfortable to carry, there is no mechanism to get dirty, when you pull the knife out its ready to use... no opening or closing required.

    Sheath I use:

Favorite knife: (There are several different and excellent designs by this company).

Bark River also offers several different knives that are suitable for front pocket carry. I have a couple that I do rotate into my EDC:

Sometimes I do carry a folding knife, this thing is butt ugly but I have found it to be better than anything else I've carried over the years. Lots of different ways to hold the knife, and the blade shape just seems to work:

I forgot to add this one from Spartan, I carried this and really liked it before I got the Compliance Edge knife listed above:

For me knives are worse than holsters... I have a drawer full of them looking for the perfect one for every occasion 😇

I’ve been pocket carrying an LTWK Frontier Valley pretty religiously this year in a Badger Claw Leather pocket sheath. The majority of my smaller knives are LT Wright or White River. There’s been times I’ve carried something else 7.5” or under on the belt, inside the waistband, etc but it’s been circumstantial and If I don’t have a smaller fixed blade knife, it’s a Leatherman. I prefer carrying the fixed blade knife over the folder majority of the time.

White River M1 Pro (flat g10 textured handles, removable) or Caper (micarta pinned handles with a more contoured finish).

    Bradford Guardian 3/3.2/3.5

Schwartz Overland Sport (A little bit of a wait but every option under the Sun to suit your style and taste). He's a one-man shop out of a garage

    All are USA made

I have a few. favorites are the RMJ utsidihi and the joe watson kidon, but there are a ton of excellent makers. busse has a bunch of models (game warden, AD, meaner street), tom krein has a bunch, matt bailey has some nice ones. the creely mako is fantastic, has about a 2.75" blade that won't freak anyone out, comes in pretty much any steel you can imagine, and comes with a great pocket sheath. there are so many great makers it's ridiculous.

Commie rule Rooster. Time to move!

I carry a g19 and 2 mags for my fixed blade

    ZT folder in my pocket.
    😉
Carry errrday, state can suck my left nut

I decided a few months back I wanted to try a small fixed blade after my Infidel I’ve been carrying for over 3 years got a coin jammed in it from my pocket for the second time rendering it useless until I got a pair of pliers to remove it.

I initially bought an MKC speedgoat 2.0 after reading all the hype… what a mistake that was. That’s a chintzy ass knife for $200 for the blade only. It feels little and cheap and the paracord feels cheap and had scratches all over the blade, but if you like YouTube unboxing videos you’ll probably cum in your pants opening the packaging. I also bought their leather sheath for it (spent just shy of $300 for knife and sheath after tax) and the fucker wouldn’t even insert fully into the sheath like it’s supposed to with any amount of force. The leather wasn’t burnished or anything on the top and it was way too tight and would just bunch up the paracord. It went back.

In the mean time I bought a Busse custom shop off their in stock page that was only about $100 more than the MKC after the sheath and it’s a work of art and an absolutely amazing knife as all of the Busse’ I’ve had are. I’ve carried it some both on my belt and in my pocket which the sheath works well for. I like carrying and using it but I’ve mostly just been carrying my Benchmade Adamas again because it’s more convenient.

I’ve tried other fixed blades and kydex sheaths as well and anything small enough to be comfortable on a IWB sheath isn’t something I really want to use and I use my knife a lot in a day so that’s just a cut waiting to happen reinserting it. The Busse works pretty well in a pocket and is about the largest I’d want in my pocket while being about the smallest I’d actually want to use but it’s still larger in the pocket than I’d like to have all the time since I keep my wallet and money clip in the same pocket.

It’s obviously very personal and it varies so much person to person with how they carry and knife, how much they use it, and how much other shit they carry and where so my recommendation would be to consider all of that for yourself.

Dawson with their USA made Magnacut steel is a good one and I've had nothing other than positive experiences with this company. I love their proprietary metal finishes.

Here's my four so far. I EDC a fixed blade all day long and much prefer this over folders.
The way the Contractor feels in hand, 2nd from right, makes it my favorite.

    Next are my TKell's.
Warthog on the left side, the other a Nighthawk. I'd rather have Magnacut steel but I like the shapes and sheaths more than Dawson.

Probably get a couple Half faced Blades next.
