Anyone here had a rifle done in 6.5TCU or 6mmTCU. Seems like a nice efficient size for a practice rifle that could see alot of rounds. Both were used in pistols for met/sil shooting.

I shoot, and prefer the 6x47 (6mm X .222 Rem Mag) to the 6x45 or the 6mm TCU.

The 6x47 will push the 95 NBT to 2900 and despite the link above I think you'd have to be running 70K+ to push that bullet to 2900+ in either the 6mm TCU or the 6x47 with a 22" tube.

I would strongly recommend a 6mmBR, you will look very hard to find a cartridge with greater inherent accuracy than the 6BR will give you from 300-600 yards. Easy to load, great brass and a lot of information for shooting and loading.

6mm TCU is a fun little round a friend has a couple and running the light 6mm pills it is similar to 22-250 with less powder.

Those are nice rounds.

I just use a 223.

Its just easier. (or I'm lazy . . . . . .

Re: Smaller capacity 6.5 or 6mm.

I have a 6x45mm with an 8-twist, 20" barrel (remainder of a 243Win barrel). Shoots 107SMK's at 2600fps, which almost exactly matches my 308Win dope. I built it for my kids and it's like shooting a loud 22lr that happens to shoot out to 800yds.

Just one trip through the resizing die makes the cases, so it's no trouble. But if I had an old fast twist .224 barrel laying around it would have built a .223 instead. No regrets either way.

Re: Smaller capacity 6.5 or 6mm.

I was hoping someone had tried a 6.5TCU. The 6TCU is a keeper for sure, but I have no reason to ever shoot more than 200 or so yards so I was thinking the 95gr 6.5 V-maxes might work well and have good barrel life out of a 6.5TCU
