So Abbott or West for TX governor?

I like Allen West but I'm not a big fan of political tourists.
On top of that you're going to have to be realistic, Allen West loses to Mccaughnehay in the general.
I've not been a fan of all of Abbot's positions but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater

I wouldn't be surprised if Abbott runs for Pres. with goal to get a cabinet position in next presidency.
I agree with West being a political tourist - Georgia, Florida etc., and that kind oof bothers me. But I would hate if a gap allowed illegal voting to throw in one of theirs. I thought West was leading the Texas succession movement at one point tho..?
I'd vote for West. Political tourism doesn't bother me as long as it benefits standard American values, not this Maxist shit paid for by Soros, Tides Foundation, Ford Foundation, Heinz Foundation, etc, etc.
I like West, but I don't think he could win in the general. Abbot has done some good stuff, but slow on the trigger regarding some others. I am afraid there are enough airheads out there that would vote for Moviestar Mcconaughey to put him driving the Texas republican bus. Let the guy star in a Texas movie, and the next thing you know he wants to be governor. But, Hollywood has pickled his brain. And, you can bet he will push the angle that he's a native Texan. But, so was Dan Rather.
It's not perfect, but the trio of Abbot, Patrick, and Paxton have been working pretty good. I'm not enough of a gambler to want to break it up in these tough times. And, I think they will get tougher. Besides, Abbot has Trumps' endorsement. That's a big bullet.
I also have been a fan of West but I think Abbott has done a pretty good job given some of the circumstances and I don't agree with some of his actions. I think I'd rather see West run against the RINO Cornyn for senate next time around.
This is not an endorsement for West, don't know enough about him. Like others, he moves around too much for me, can't seem to. hold a job.
Abbot is a joke. He watches to see what is popular and then makes decisions. If DeSantis does it, he follows. He is gearing up to run for Pres. He has a huge war chest of dollars and adding daily. He works harder every day to raise money for "whatever" election he targets. His problem is the local radio is reporting he is losing his big money donors and support over the lockdowns and mask mandates.
As far as Puto O'Rourke, the Dems donated $80mill for his campaign for Senate, what do you think they will send to win the Governor's office?
Puto still has a big following of liberals and karens here in TX. Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio are all huge liberal cities and where the votes are and the voter fraud is. Cruze only beat him by a few percentage points. IF he runs, it will be a tighter race than you think.
I thought it was very interesting that Puto didn't show for the Kum-a-lot show in El Paso week ago Friday. Toxic for her?
No way I'd go throw so much as 1 cent towards West myself. Formerly a fan, btw...until digging deeper. Multiple reasons for me: the political tourist is a big one. I've also crossed paths with a few of his acquaintances (or at least somebody claiming they are good friends) and that is a HUGE no-go for me. Speaks a lot of a person of the company they keep. I see him as an "opportunist" - which of course is every politician.
And this is another reason why conservatives lose so often against progressives.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is WINNING.

It's good advice. Abbott has a better chance of winning against any democrat challenger than Allen West does.

I don't know much about West but Abbot seems to do a good job of keeping the commies pissed off, especially with Constitutional Carry and trying to seal the border.
Abbott or whoever needs to pass a law making it a felony to sell Texas land to China, Iran, Russia or any foreign country, especially an enemy, and if Texas does secede we confiscate whatever land China bought, including the 180M acres in S. Texas, for partial compensation for attacking us with bio warfare.
Americans can no longer buy or even own existing big tracks of land in Mexico and there's no grandfathering it in. New Zealand is the same way. I'm sure there are many other countries that share the same common sense.

I don't have a stake in this race (I'm in WI) but if I did I wouldn't vote for West for the above stated reasons, the biggest one being his being a political tourist. I doubt his intentions would be Texas first. Rather, it would be West first. Darn politicians.

10 years ago I worked under Govs Perry and Abbott on a Sr. staff position at a large TX State agency, and knew some of his senior staff and friends of his well. I also saw how Texas really works from the inside.
Abbott is good for Texas. Why?
Abbott (former Attorney General) is a very effective politician who knows how to get things done in the political environment, has many allies, and holds a substantial number of markers / favors. When it hits the fan, you need a governor that can quickly rally departments, citizens and NGOs, call in markers (or markers of markers) or mobilize citizens or other organizations.
That’s a relationship issue and Abbott understands and is effective in using relationships, as it’s absolutely required in Texas and many other states.
I don’t believe West, Mc-Con-a-hay or Beatoff have those relationships or can quickly establish them in a disaster or political shi*storm.
He and I don’t agree on everything but he is likely the most effective governor Texas has had in decades.

I would have to agree with that. Perry didn't have to operate in the crapstorm political climate that exists today. When you look at Abbott, Patrick, and Paxton individually, there's nothing really outstanding about them. But together, they are definitely greater than the sum of their parts. I'm really hesitant to see this trio split up. If we could just unload that worthless John Cornyn, we would be in great shape to continue telling DC to take a hike.
If you look at the results in that race it was another North Korean affair.......100 percent of some areas voting for the other guy against West..........
No one really likes Cornyn, he's the milquetoast someone referred to earlier. If West would run against him, he might have a better chance. Or if we got someone more popular than Cruz to take Cornyns spot in the primary, a second Beto run would be stopped again.
Tony Gonzalez is my congressman and would be a good fit as Senator. A good conservative Hispanic with a military background and super strong on the 2A crushes Beto, likely flips the valley to Red again.

Perry was bad for Texas IMHO. Everything was political first vs. what was right for the citizens. I saw a firsthand attempt by Perry to screw public safety responders long term for the sole purpose to make Obama look bad (and only for a few days at that). He might have been good oil and gas but not for Texas.
I have met West and had a conversation over a beer he bought me long before his political career. I met him when he was a Battalion Commander at Fort Hood in 4ID circa 2003. Great guy that loved his Soldiers more than anything, to include his career. He was friends with my BN CDR at the time and would take the time to have a conversation with you, regardless of rank.
Maybe if West loses his primary against Abbot he can come to Idaho and challenge my chicken shit RINO gov Little

However there was probably only 1 governor in all the USA that got it right from the start.
That being said, unlike most other governors, the moment Abbott realized there was serious push back from the population, he immediately changed course and did the right thing.
So while not perfect, he at least did the right thing when pressured to do so rather than doubling down on evil like so many others did.

The mask mandate from Wheelz was pushed to give big business cover. Because he is bought and paid for. period. The only reason he does ANYTHING is to benefit his political career. Every term all of a sudden before re-election he magically gets something done he promised 4 years earlier. It’s embarrassing and as scumbag as any politician could be. here's another problem with West trying to Primary Abbot: if the primary is especially brutal and costly, it may only accomplish one thing. and that is to weaken Abbott enough that he cant compete like he needs to in the General against McConaughny. There was a poll out today shows Abbott beats McConaughny... i know i know, polls lie but its interesting timing.
