But they are bad if protecting humans?

Oh and the irony... the anti-poaching units disarmed... and the poachers slaughtered the elephants.

Well, screw it. I might as well order an Ivory Stock for my AR-15 and go total "up yours" libtards!

Cheers,

Sirhr

P.S. The Washington Post covered the same story, but went out of their way to 'bury' the part about the anti-poaching units being disarmed by Botswana's President. I guess they get the irony.... enough to make sure they cover it up.

what?!....you mean when you take away the consequences of a crime....people are gonna commit crime?!!!

if you are a poacher armed with an AK47.....why exactly would you be afraid to commit crime when the authorities are armed only with stern words.....fuck, that might work on illegal canadian maple syrup poachers......i dont think that shits gonna fly in Africa.

Well ivory is just another item that is "banned" yet somehow can't be controlled. Prohibition 20th round or something like that.
I fail to understand why people can not grasp that when something is controlled it becomes more valuable, more wanted.
A couple years ago there was a article that 48 tons of ivory was going to be destroyed. Ivory that had been confiscated from poachers.
I did some research and found the contact info for one official in charge. Emailed him a few times.
In a few much longer emails it went like this.

Sir, why not sale the ivory. Flood the market, the elephants are already dead. You're not saving anything by destroying the tusks you have in storage. Use the money to then protect the elephants. Harvest more tusks (without killing if possible). IE monopolize the market. Think Debeers and diamonds.

Response,
Sir you are nuts!!

Fuck-em, they have a natural resource and dont even undertand it. That ivory is probably worth its weight in gold. Would anyone flush 48 tons of gold down the shitter. Dumbasses.

You may be nuts but the official is dumb.

Africa's resources are criminally squandered and the people are treated... in a criminal manner. And it's not the fault of Colonials and slave traders. It's their own damn fault... abetted by the do-gooders and UNICEF retards around the world.

Read "The Destruction of a Continent" sometime. To see what aid has done to Africa.

And, yes, Ivory is a resource. It should be managed. Period.

When you look at the piles of ivory to be destroyed the large tusk are always missing. Even when places like Kenya had scads of big tuskers. The African corrupt officials sold the big stuff and burned the junk. In Kenya, the ivory was poached at the order of the ruling class and sold.
