So, I like fortune cookie and I like the solo sack.....anything in between?

I like the fortune cookie bag because of its shape.

I like the solo sack because I can load into the rifle better if need be.

If I try to load too much into the fortune cookie, the rifle will slide forward on the bag.

The solo sack “catches” on the rifle. I’m assuming it has to do with the sand vs fill and different material.

Are their any bags that are kinda a mix between the too, or should I be experimenting with a cookie......cut a hole, fill with sand, and see what happens?

Also, are there alternatives to sand, which act like sand, but won’t turn into mud on a rainy day?

    Thanks

Pint sized gamechanger heavy fill. I also have a solo sack and really like the sand type fill but it's not the best on things like a cattle gate or something narrow. I've been practicing with the pint sized more and more as a 1 bag does most things well type of solution. I really really like it now.
Granted I do end up using it on its side a lot but it's still great.

I second the pint size waxed gamechanger. The heavy fill is really nice and it can be used for just about anything. I picked up a standard size waxed gamechanger and plan on replacing the fill with either sand or something heavier to mimic the pint size.

I've switched to running the Warhorse Development Saracen over the off season and have found it extremely versatile! For our ACC, I just got a little grip tape on the underside (a trick I borrowed from Buck) and it allows your bag to stay glued to your gun when you're on it.

For those tight, little spots where you can't get the Saracen in there, I have an ESC Dynamics Gittings Skid Pad on there which has just enough cushion to support the gun :)

Just my 2 cents. Not necessarily the best option, but they work for me!

I've had an Armageddon Gear full sized Gamechanger for years but now I've switched to a pint sized waxed canvas Gamechanger with sand fill and a SAP Solo Sack and I think those two bags will be the only bags that I need from now on.

I have a comp bag in the works that will use a very unique fill that is very solid. Still working out the shape but it should be ready in the next couple of weeks. I experimented with fills for a long time and am very happy with this combo. I subscribe to the heavier/more solid fill is much better than lighter /more flowing fill. It kind of mimics sand but is not as heavy and is more pliable.

For those of you with the sand based bags, just a heads up not to run them in a rainy match. They get waterlogged and turn into a brick.
Yep. This is exactly why I experimented with fills so much. I was looking for the stability of sand without the downside of it(weight/zero pliability/traps water)I have never sprayed mine woth a hose but the additive I use with the beads has a 0% absorption rate.

I took a solo sac to a super rainy match last year and it took forever to dry out. Sitting in my house it was still wet almost a week later.

Good call on the pint sized. Got one in and I like it quite a bit. Wish it was a little bigger, say halfway between the pint size and regular.

    Definitely keeping this one around.

Before I do something stupid like fill a mini cookie or something similar with sand fill:

Any suggests in a gamechanger/cookie style back there a little bigger with a sand type fill? I’m finding I prefer the denser sand fill over the plastic/bead fill.

My comp bag is finally ready. All of my bags are built around a dense fill I spent months testing and blending. It does not need to drape over an obstacle like a GC or fortune cookie because the dense fill molds to the obstacle and the grippy sides lock it there. In these pics the rifle is not just balancing there. You could lean your weight into it and it will not budge.

You can see it in the below pic how it molds to whatever is under it. The difference is my fill doesn’t “flow” so the indentation of the object stays there and holds it in place.

Try it for a week and send it back if you don’t like it.

I can think of a lot of uses for this comp bag. Placed my order the other day and can't wait to receive it. The shape, the weight, and the grippy surface are going to make for a nice combination I'm sure.

I am still amazed that it is under 4 Lbs! I was stunned. It really feels heavier because it is so dense.

    Yours went out today Dan.

Nice I'll be ordering one. I have two of your rear bags and they have worked great.
