Am I the only one thats been waiting for .264 bullets for 4 months?? I put a lot of work into load development for the 140 VLD and i'm starting to think I need to just forget it and move to a manufacturer that is more reliable. I am down to about 600 bullets and am getting a little worried.

Re: So whats up with Berger??

I spoke to them last week. They had a problem with their 6.5mm bullet machine, and were having to revamp it. They didn't say how long it would be, since several dealines have come and gone several times. Just keep waiting, it will be worth it!

Re: So whats up with Berger??

Ahhhhh yeh think so. The only difference I know of is their standard (non-VLD), VLD (target) and VLD Hunting which incorporates a slightly thicker jacket for better penetration.

Re: So whats up with Berger??

The "old VLD" in the yellow box has become the "hunting VLD" in the orange box. The "target" has a thicker jacket and is of newer design. I think the external dimensions are the same.

Re: So whats up with Berger??

Supposedly the hunting and target versions are different only in the jacket. The hunting jackets are actually thinner per my inquiry to Berger a few months ago. This was done because of the tendency for the high speed target calibers to blow up the thin skinned bullets.

As far as the old style vs. new style just being a repack and name change I don't know about that. The supposed BC's on the box are different. I have a box of the old, I suppose I should crack them open and see if the differences can be seen visually.

Re: So whats up with Berger??

my observation is that the hunting vld and target vld are not the same deminsions.i loaded some 95targets for her to shoot and we got very good groups out to 350.i call them minute of milk jug.she was hitting 1 gallon milk jugs full of water consistantly first shot.so i load up some of the hunting vld 95 grn and the same seating and powder charge and she was missing at all ranges.there must be some differance.

Re: So whats up with Berger??

I got lucky and found a box of Bergers to try out. Luckily my gun likes the Hornadys better. I'm going to try a little more load development with some Bergers I got from ChadTRG42 but I'm glad my gun liked the Hornadys because I can find them pretty easily. If you absolutely can't find the Bergers then I'd say give the Hornadys a try. It makes no sense but they actually hold up to the wind better for a lot of guys I shoot with that are using 6.5mm. Hell the top 3 guys this past weekend in a 1000yd match I was shooting in were all 6.5's including myself. We were all using the 140 AMAX's. The guy that beat me was a 260, Im a 6.5 CM, and third was a 6.5x47L and to add to the irony, it was the first time any of us had shot the Hornady's in a Match. Not knocking Bergers because this is the first gun that I've had that didn't favor them, just thought I'd pass this on since the Bergers are extinct at the moment.

Re: So whats up with Berger??

I'm thinking Lapua scenar might be a minimal development drop in so if they dont come in soon then Lapua it is. Shame for berger because once I change thats it......I wont be back because I really really really hate having to re-do development work.
