So...what's yer "Plan B"?

boomers ripping following generations off? what crock of shit. the 1st SS payment was made in 1937. a lot of milenials won't have the problem as most of them haven't and will not have worked 30-50 years. so,if a lot of them get anything-LOL-they will not have paid as much in as the average boomer, whose mandatory payments won't cover the payouts i realize. and yes,it is a ponzi pyramid scam. what to do? nothing that will or might work will be done. would cut off all the SS funded welfare scams, disability scams, vote buying,"borrowing" by congress to fund their wars, bennies and power grabs. medicare? you have no concept of how it has been raped by the doctors, hospitals, big pharma and the multitude of government agencies. i watched it personally for 40+ years.

After watching my RIF (Retirement Income Fund) lose $20K today my Plan B short term is go back to work and give up all hope of retiring. I was having fun not reporting for duty and making my multimillionaire asshole Bosses rich on my talent (while I beg to be let off of climbing ladders, pulling wire, and pounding holes in concrete on new construction at 66+YO) but I'll be back being cornholed here likely at the end of June.

Maybe I'll get picked for the "Christmas Bonus" Program. That's where the Millionaires put all the branch employees names in a hat and draw out 6 names...if yer name is one the list, they take us in the back room and "Bone US". Maybe I'll get Covid and die tonight. I'd go in peace, I promise. Fuck this Century. Just Fuck it.

I don’t mean to sound like an ass, but if $20k makes or breaks your decision to return back to work when you were retired, then I don’t think you had enough to retire to begin with. And that sucks. I hope things turn around for you. Don’t worry, things will come back up, eventually, I hope. If not, we have bigger things to worry about. How much do you have in retirement now?

If you know how to do construction, then may I ask why you never considered taking some of that money in retirement and flipping some houses? I know people that have become multi millionaires in a few short years doing this very thing. And they even subbed out all of the work. Unfortunately, my wife’s hasn’t let me do this yet. Maybe it’s something you can consider in the future. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how is the best time to do this tho unless you can get in and out in a month

Going out in a blaze of glory......duh

Doc

I think I gathered that you are 66 years of age and I believe you mentioned that you have 30 years left. That is absolutely terrific! I hope you're correct. I'm very much impressed.

My plan B..... actually my plan a, b, and c is that I have placed my complete faith and trust in Jesus Christ. My future is secure. I pray that you have done the same. This world is not my home.

I hate Construction - always have. Not the people doing it. I hold them in the highest regard as Craftsmen as they are doing a job that I simply cannot do. I am an Electronics Engineering Technician by Education, Aptitude and 49 years of experience mostly a s Field Service Specialist on A/V Systems. The company I worked for kicked me to the curb in April 2020 and got paid millions in PPP. When I got back they had trimmed the workforce so low that they needed their 66 YO Service Engineer to get back onsite in new construction and pull wire, make holes in walls. move/climb ladders (all day) and I had a hissy fit and fucking quit.

I have $500K in Investments that have been easily earning me the money I needed ($2K a month) and at the exact moment I quit the Markets plummeted leaving me to my $2K a month SS income. With Mama still working we have been holding our own pretty well and not draining the checking/savings the last 1/4 so it's not all doom and gloom yet. I have another $120K waiting to get invested when this Blood Bath in the Stock Market ends - which it will but it might be a while yet. Maybe a few years. Short term solution while having a conversation with mice elf over a glass of whisky last night was to just go back to work for a year or two. The competitors to my former employer have told me repeatedly that if I wanna work they'll put me on in the blink of an eye. I literally trained and worked with their entire Crew that they now employ.

I'm not doomed yet. I just can't stand the idea of going back to work again. I got shit to do that is a lot more fun (like every Thursday is long range shooting) than being on The Man's Agenda for today.

After giving this some thought, reading all of the replies, I've figured out I am living "Plan C"... Plan "B" would require an upgrade. Surviving on SS and a very small pension. Other than my mortgage, I am debt free. Survived a 5 by-pass emergency open heart surgery 12 years ago. So, I made a few changes in life and the past 12 years have been very good.
Any day I wake up and I'm not in a Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) is a good day.

...God I hate fucking Democrats.

Fuck Joe Biden and fuck every asshole who ever voted for a piece of shit Democrat and caused this problem.
You mean like the OP?

We all know that. My point is that I played the Game and paid in on the *PROMISE* that the Game would pay me back and now after I paid they want to stop the game. Fix it. It can be fixed but in order to do that the .01% will have to pay their share and they own our Representation. It'd be more fair if we liquidated everyone in Congress and The Senate and all of their Campaign Financiers and used that money to fix SS.

VooDoo

Yeah let’s get the 500 billionaires to pay for 75 years of theft. Then the Chinese can scoop up all of their former holdings for dimes on the dollar. They’ll surely be better masters…

You literally are moaning about being scammed (which you won’t be) and asking the crook to fix it with more money from someone else’s account. How does someone fix that kind of illiteracy? The SS model was based upon 6% returns, which the market has given easily, but they stole the principal. Model broken. Money stolen. Gone.

15% invested over the course of my life should yield an absolutely golden parachute of retirement income for me. The principal of which would never be touched, and would supply the needs of my children’s children.

I worked three long term jobs and have three pensions coming. I already collect two, the third starts in a year and includes medical. While I do not have millions in the bank or anything like that, I will do okay. My retirements are across municipal, state and federal pensions and a 401K that I manage myself these days.

Unless the entire thing goes in the shitter. Before social security I'll make something in the mid 90's annually. It only took forty years to make this plan come together and FJB is fucking going to ruin it when I am 10 months out.......................................God I hate fucking Democrats.

So I have to ask, you triple dipped on government jobs and pensions, ( stole 2 jobs from younger people) and now you want to bitch about the government?

Sounds like he worked his ass off to me. He deserves to enjoy and be financially secure in Retirement and leave 3 job openings for those coming up behind.

He probably did work hard at some point.
But double and triple dipping on government jobs is bullshit.
Retire from job one, start job number two at the same pay scale as job one, quite possible at the same desk even never even missing a day of work.
Work five years get vested retire and collect a second full pension.
Rinse wash repeat with job three.
About the only thing that prevents most from more is old age or death.

I'm all for working to get ahead but there are a lot of people that abuse the system.

Oh and BTW these pension and medical care are taxpayer funded

I tend to hate The Game and not The Players. The playing field needs to be leveled instead of stacked in favor of .GOV, IMO.

Literally fuck you, lol. My absolute favorite type is asshole is one who didn't apply for a job and then bitches that I got that job. All you have to do is apply and you didn't. The first job was 27 years of active and national guard and all you have to do is give up your weekends and 90% of your spare time for two decades, feel free to step up.

Job #2 was a public utility and they had no one applying for the position with any qualifications because of their shitty department management. I took this gig and stuck with it for twenty years. The job requires shift work, if I had a nickel for every petty cunt like you who refused to apply because they won't work Christmas for triple time, I'd have retired 20 years ago. Typical plant tour, someone asks about the salary and is surprised it is so high. Then they say, "Man, I love to have this job", then you point out it is 24/7/365 and they say, "Oh, I'd never do that."

Job #3, Had 10 openings and no one applying, it is a remote location. Every "younger people" on fucking earth is free to apply and not a one of them does. Typically a "younger employee" is in their early 30's, same age as I was when I took this gig as a civilian. Anyone younger is to fucking stupid to do math so they do not see the value in a high wage job that interferes with drinking and smoking weed.

Being a remote location, there is one bar, two places to eat, three gas stations and a grocery store. One or two doctors who are contracted drunks or failures, hired in for 6 month contracts at the local clinic and a dentist who is in the area on Wednesdays only. Same goes for the eye doctor, he is in town one day a week. It is 50 miles to Home Depot or Wal Mart and the only fast food is a $25 dollar a pie pizza joint that is open a few days a week.

Yes, I am entitled to bitch about the government. I earned every dollar. You whine because of petty jealously. I happened upon a job with a nice pension and shitty pay. The actual value of that job was long term, the pension. So I made 30% less for 20 years. This job had a couple of perks, it was located close to my kids, had decent bennies and tolerated serving in the national guard. Now I'm getting my 30% back.

Once you reached the age where you can draw retirement, there was no point in staying. If your retirement is worth $18 bucks an hour and you make $36, you are working for 1/2 price. So go find another job and make that hourly wage plus $18 bucks an hour if you are smart.

The question is, Can you do it? Do you have the balls or brains to make the move? Step out into a new job, requalify on dozens of things, do a year or two probation and risk failure? Cunts who complain, always say "no" to this question.

I literally took job #3 because I am fully qualified and knew the manager well. The point was that I could jump in with 90 days of familiarization training and keep the place running while they got an apprentice class of new, younger operators going and by the time I wanted to retire these guys would be good to go. The point was to work for seven years or less and be done. After a year the asshole HR guy decided they do not want to waste money on training so that plan is screwed. Then the new GM decided he hates unions and they drove two long time employees into early retirement. In the end, the management has made the place miserable to work at. Lucky for me, I like the hunting and own a house nearby. In 11 months I'm done.

Most of the younger crowd really does lack a work ethic and if they do not have reception or a fucking cell phone to play on they refuse to even come to work. We had two people answer texts or check their phones in the damned interview. If you feel like other people have a better job or retirement plan that you do, then step up and stop whining.

I'm not jealous of you and I'm sure as fuck ain't whining about my retirement.
Dude you're the one pissing and moaning and them lecturing about good work ethics.
Then you write an online Dear Abby book justifying your own shit.
Oh wow I didn't you were the only person that gave up their life for a career in the guard.
What ever shitbird.

Spel muuch?

If your retirement is as nicely assembled as those sentences you have nothing to worry about. :ROFLMAO: I am willing to bet you are missing teeth and have no idea when they fell out.
