This is true but there is no African in a Black Irish in Ireland. Possibly Spanish but that's even suspect at this point. It's possible it's a reference to when black slaves were bred with Irish indentured servants, in the Caribbean, to produce a strong and endurance slave. Generally a black male with an Irish female. Mostly lost to history as it doesn't toe the line of how many want history to be remembered. My maternal grandfather was "Black Irish" and I inherited the trait. We just tan extremely well, have dark hair and generally blue eyes.
