Just got a 20 inch 338 Lapua barrel from an unfired 2013 AX338. The barrel is black with M18/1.5 thread.

I am limited to 300 caliber because of the range limitation and ordered a 300 norma barrel. This has to go.

When running 285gr bullets, 20 inch should be able to generate 2650 ish fps vs 2800 fps through a 26 inch tube. In my BC calculator, using 285 ELD-M at 2650 fps 2100 ft altitude, it can still be super sonic at 1 Mile with ~800 ft-lb energy vs ~950 ft-lb from 26 inch - that is impressive performance. And you get a much handier setup.

Thanks!

Probably a dumb question but I'm new to the AXMC platform myself: are these barrels designed to be able to switch between rifles and still headspace correctly or should it still be checked with a gauge after installing?

All the factory barrels should Just headspace right.
