I was wondering what solvent you guys use for your accurate .22 rimfires?

Do you the same stuff as your centerfires, or something specific?

How about how many rounds before you clean?

Just got bitten by the .22 rf bug, and waiting on my new rig.

Thanks, JPG

Re: Solvent for RF

I use MPro7 for all my firearms. You can get it at Brownells or it is also marketed by Hoppes as Hoppes Elite. There is no chemical smell, its water based as opposed to solvent based so it won't eat into paint finishes etc. plus its safe and doesn't have one of those stickers on it that says may cause cancer!!!!
Does an excellent job on carbon fouling and copper fouling (not usually a problem with RF's). MPro7 comes in several versions, such as liquid, gel, copper remover etc., but I use the liquid in a spray bottle and finish with the oil.

Usually RF ammunition is pretty easy to clean so any firearms cleaner will get the job done. More important is that you get a bore guide that fits and a good cleaning rod. I use Tipton carbon fiber rods, bronze brushes and brass jags. I use a plastic Delrin bore guide from Sinclair International who makes them for just about any RF out there but I have been hearing great things about custom bore guides from Mike Lucas and will probably upgrade to his real soon.

The only RF I keep really clean is my Sig Mosquito because it just won't shoot after about 250 rounds. All my other RF rifles or pistols I don't clean them until accuracy starts to go away.
