I ordered a new McM HTG for my 280AI hunting stick. I have one on my LR 280AI and have come to like her allot.
Anyway as setup now its a BDL, the stock I picked up from McM is an ADL setup. So not having any ADL crap laying around to the pawn shops I went looking for a decent donor ADL rifle for the ADL parts (metal trigger guard, mag box, screws, metal escutcheon for front screw). From brownells these parts run between 35-60 bucks dealer. I figured finding an ADL with the right metal TG in the 350 range would make life a bit easier.
Well today we were screwing around in the city and decided to hit a PS or two. Well shuffling through the racks I ran across a Remington 700 ADL in some sort of fiberglass stock, with leup XV-II 2-7x33 on her. I picked it up even though I assumed the price would be high due to the leup on her. Flipped it over and read the caliber at 7mm Express. Thought about it for a second and realised it was a 280.
Just odd thinking what are the chances of finding parts for my 280 and ending up finding a rifle chambered in 280. If it was a 270, 308, or 30-06 or any of the common calibers I could see it.
Now if I could get my wife to understand why I buy complete guns to get certain parts off them.
BTW anyone know who made this stock? seems like an 80 or early 90's style of fiberstocks but not sure about that.
