LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - A homeowner opened fire on a man trying to kick down his door early Friday morning, Lawrence Police report.
Police received several 911 calls around 1 a.m. Friday reporting shots being fired in the 12200 block of Bearsdale Drive. Officers arrived on the scene where they found the body of a 21-year-old man body resting just inside the front door of a house.
Investigators located the homeowner who told officers the deceased, Jesse Coleman, was trying to kick down the front door. The resident told police Coleman was carrying a gun when he opened fire.
Police also found a shoe laying in the front yard.
Meanwhile, officers responding to the scene encountered a speeding vehicle leaving the area. Lawrence Police stopped the vehicle and its two occupants. One of the men in the car was missing a shoe.
Police tell 24-Hour News 8 they suspect the two men were working with the deceased suspect and ran off when shots were fired.
