Hi,
I'm very close to purchasing a scope for my Bergara B-14R bolt action .22lr. The tube will be 34mm, so now I need a mount for it. I have an Area419 20moa rail on the gun, so I want a 0 moa mount. Not interested in rings.

Can you guys recommend some reasonably priced mounts and a source for them? I'd like to keep it under $200 if possible. Let me know if more info is needed to make a recommendation. I'm almost positive the scope will be the Athlon Cronus 4.5-29x56mm scope, but if now, it will still be a 56mm scope, so the rings have to be the correct height for that type of scope.

Thanks,
Cuz

If you don't want rings here are a few options, I would try and stretch your budget a tiny bit and go for a MPA BA scope mount, or Vortex (made by Seekins) Precision Extended Cantilevered mount, or possibly the Primary Arms PLx mount. A Warne mount is probably the cheapest I would go. If you're LE/MIL or first responder you can save a few more bucks. If you're a PRS member, they have discounts at numerous manufacturers on the PRS website, but you will have to provide your PRS ID#. I use a MPA BA mount (1.125 height and 0moa) on my Bergara B-14R (Vortex strike eagle 5-25x56 34mm tube) and it's rock solid. I have multiple Vortex mounts like the one linked and it is fantastic as well. The Primary Arms and Warne mounts may be a tad high since they are intended for MSRs and not bolt actions.

The Warne scope mount is about $209 on Amazon and a good option. The 1.18" height will work fine on a 56mm scope.

Thanks, I'll certainly start checking them out...

Another for F3R machine, very stout mounts and right around the price you want to stay at.

I’ve decided to take incredibly unusual action (for me anyway). I’m going to wait until the scope arrives and actually measure the height I will need for a mount. I want the lowest possible.
Normally I’d just jump in and buy the wrong height the first time around. Thanks for all the input.

I’m hoping the same mount/scope combo will fit nicely on the B-14R bolt gun and the BXR semi-auto. But for some reason I “think” I will need a cantilever mount for the BXR.
Can anyone confirm/deny?

Here is what I can tell you for buying THE LOWEST POSSIBLE scope mount. You will have neck fatigue in prolonged positions. Get you scope in a position where your neck is in a comfortable spot. That for me has been 1.18 - 1.26. I use SPUHR and ARC M-Brace with 10-20 MOA built in on top of a 30 MOA scope base. Vortex Razor Gen3 on a 1.25 barrel clears well.

Trijicon 34mm, 1.06" height (fits Athlon Cronus)

These can be found slightly above your price range. They are pretty much the lowest one piece mount, and have a touch of cantileveredness... I'm pretty sure this got my B-14r with the Cronus and a Seekins 20moa rail.

(PS Check the classifieds...)

No you don't if you want to be comfortable behind the scope. But get it and learn that lesson yourself. ;)
I think many of us have learned that lesson the hard way, myself included.

For the OP. Yes, having the "lowest" possible is nice from an aesthetic standpoint and maybe you don't have an adjustable cheekpiece so you feel it needs to be low for proper alignment but there are times where you may need to shoot from a position that is not ideal, this is where a higher mount can help. Do you have another reason why you want the lowest possible mounting option?

For your budget, check out ZRO Delta -

I put medium rings on a 20moa rail on mine. They work just fine. Not sure why you need a bomb proof mount for a simple 22.

Listen to these fine upstanding citizens.

If I could, I’d get the scope this high. Only I’d use two of them lol

Forgot about that experiment! Now if they would put two scopes on there for binocular vision and then angle them back so I could shoot in my lawn chair recliner…
I think it opened a lot of shooters eyes metaphorically speaking - to realize that scope height has nothing to do with accuracy as long as you have a ballistics solver that takes the scope height (centerline of bore to centerline of scope) which I think all of them do these days.
