Maggie’s South Dokota - Rose Bud- Prarrie Dog Season - Closed??

I was supposed to go on a 3 day shoot the first week in May. With all the concern about the corona virius….I just thought I should touch base with the guide. So I called him yesterday....and was told that the Rose Bud reservation was closed to non members for the foreseeable future. I checked on the web site and sure enough…".closed". At least they are sending out refund checks for the permits.

So I called the guide again this morning and he said that he does have private land that he hunts but...to just "wait and see" what (if any) the state DNR might do in the next few weeks. To his credit he said that if for whatever reason we could not hunt....he would refund the down payment.

My advice is if you have any plans out west this summer....call ahead and get a feel for what is going on,,,,

I’m sure your chances of getting the Chinese virus are extremely high on those densely populated prairie lands, smh. Maybe the dogs have the virus? You can never be too safe.

As of yesterday we had a huge number (14) cases here in SD and all are on the east side of the state, close to SF

Thats pretty official looking, if the bars aren’t open we will have to bring our own. Dam virus really sucks, but I’m loaded for next year already if it stays closed.

Seriously, I'm not sure what is open now or not but plan to go to Rapid City tomorrow to check out the gun shops and get some things from the store if possible. I'll let you know what is here but that's 3 hrs. from Pine ridge.

Meh.....cant remember the last time i was in a bar in this state, ordered a beverage, and got a good one. It’s kinda like eating out. DAMN few places are worth the effort.

Crying shame about them shutting down your plans. I’ve been wanting to go out there and shoot some before i am too old and dont want to anymore.

Was planning a turkey hunt at RB this year but found out they ended up reducing #s to 1 bird. Always a great time but not this year, especially if they're "shutting down".
