Split shoulder?

Found this recently while resizing brass. Hornady 6.5CM. 3x fired. The only thing I can think is that I managed to slightly dent a shoulder recently by finally figuring out what over lubricating a case looked like, and this might’ve been the end result of shooting that one?

Yes, when it was manufactured. A defect.

My last batch of 50 Hornady had 3 of those. I loaded then and they shot fine.

When you size too much too quickly, brass folds instead of extruding. You see it all the time when forming small caliber cases from large. If you take that case and section it you’ll see a fold. It’s harmless.

If it has a defect that is where any pressure will escape. Seems anal to want to keep junk brass.

No reason to worry about keeping it - I was just curious what caused it.
