I’ve read a ton of the threads here on tripods. They all tend to be leaning towards wanting to shoot of them also. I have no plans to shoot off this tripod. I only will be mounting a gear head and my spotter. I have no idea what to look for if that’s the only use. Any suggestions for places to look and things to look out for would be appreciated.

    Hi
This is Joel from Camera Land

We have a great option, the Promaster XC525C Carbob Fiber tripod. It comes with a ball head, has 9 layers of Carbon, for members here a lifetime warranty. This was $299.99, we just lowered it to $199.99.
It folds to slightly over 15", weighs 2 lbs 12 ounces and holds 13 lbs
Give me a call if you have any questions

I would get something that is sturdy enough to shoot off of. If you are spotting in any kind of wind, you will appreciate the extra weight capacity.

I have one of these and it’s basically useless spotting at a mile in 10-15mph wind at a mile. https://www.nightgoggles.com/shop/n...4412152.3826870918273925781250&v=7516fd43adaa

Right when I started looking for it’s replacement, I won a Leofoto in a raffle and it’s way better in every aspect. Buy once, cry once.

Now I have to sell the nightstalker. Pain in the ass selling stuff at a loss that I just bought.

My buddy has a hog tripod. It was solid with the swaro at standing height in 20-25mph winds in Kansas a couple weeks ago. There were a couple others that got tipped over...

I’m all for buy once cry once but I don’t care to waste money on crap I don’t need.

Also, weight isn’t a concern for me since I’m not packing it around. Most of the stuff I shoot where I’ll use the spotter, I’m able to get pretty close to the firing position with a vehicle of some sort. I won’t really benefit from a carbon tripod like a guy that will be humping his gear around a lot.

The shadow tech pig 0311 with a bag hanging off the hook is a solid spotting Tripod at a good price.

    What tripod were you using?

It was a lot of wind. Wind holds at 2900 were in the 25-30moa range
BTW 7mils is 24MOA, and we were only a bit less than 1/2 your distance

It was a RRS but it was blowning “me” around.. not so much the tripod.

20-25 is just too much wind at 2900 amazing you guys made hits.
