Rifle Scopes Springfield Armory Scopes

Re: Springfield Armory Scopes

It is my understanding that they were made by Hakko.

They are marginal scopes at best from my experience with them. I have seen some with fairly clear glass and others with a slightly yellow hue to them. The BDC reticle for the both the 5.56 models and the 7.62 models is a "neat" idea, but it doesn't work all that well. It is hard to get the reticle to match up well to a particular rifle and a particular ammo (although the literature says it is compensated for a particular bullet at a particular velocity...it isn't quite that simple). The internal bubble level is also a "nifty" feature, but again, when it comes to the reticle and optics, they just aren't that great.

All that being said...they seem to fetch a pretty penny on eGay, etc. for some reason.

Re: Springfield Armory Scopes

On my 1st generation scope the bubble level covers up the 1000 pair of cross hairs when the scope is at its highest power.

Never was able to get on from SA that had the bubble level aligned properly. Best I was able to do was get one that was 1/2 bubble off plumb.

Re: Springfield Armory Scopes

Well, they are FFP, in fact they where doing it before many mfrs did it. I owned 2 of the Gen 2 Gov models years back, and I felt they where very over priced for what they delivered, average glass, bubble level wasnt level with the reticle.....
For the features, they where desired, but the quality just wasnt there.

LOL!

Re: Springfield Armory Scopes

I wouldn't buy one after watching my buddy's objective come loose and wobble back and forth after only 3 rounds from his M1A.

Do they even still make them?

Re: Springfield Armory Scopes

A friend of mine got a complete package from a uncle of his as a gift. On his M1a there was a gen 3 SA mount and a 4-14x56mm SA scope. I shot a few rounds from it at 200 yards. Clarity was pretty good even out to 300yd targets we had set up. I think the BDC isn't accurate and I had a hard time seeing the level bubble. I've seen far worse. I can't be sure but I'd say his uncle never shot it. Everything looked new as new could be. So I'm not sure how it may or may not hold up, but as far as budget optics goes I'd take it long before something like Millet in the aprox price point.

Evilbay is insane. Idiots must have money again since they are moving at inflated prices...

Re: Springfield Armory Scopes

I was told that they are no longer made but they are still serviced "in house" by Springfield. (This was a couple of years ago-I'm not sure if this is still the case)
I have some experience with them (no complaints)and know several people that are using them.
The negatives that I have heard were related to durability under hard use rather than optical quality.
