Picked up a used 1911 and learned about the Super Tuned series of guns, and this is an overview of this model of pistol.

I really like this gun- it's a pretty gun, and extremely well fitted. This pistol went back to the Custom Shop for accuracy work. I'm going to swap the beavertail to something that has a pad for more positive de-activation, but that is my only planned modification.

Thanks. One thing 1911's have taught me is when you have a good one, hold onto it, and I think this is a good one.

I've sold 2 great 1911's before, and I definitely regret that.

Absolutely.

Selling custom guns is a real kick in the balls. I sold a custom Kimber 1911 for $1150 once.

The gun was $650, and I had put $1050 in custom work and parts into it. That gun would shoot 5/8" groups at 15 yards in a machine rest. It was a beautiful gun, but the gunsmith hadn't given me a certificate and wasn't a big name gunsmith, except up in Oregon with the local ISPC guys there.

Kimber as a base gun doesn't help either of course. So if I'd built it on a Colt I'd probably have improved resale value at least $300
