Hey all.

I'm a new member with a relatively new rifle.

this has been my first venture into precision shooting and also my first "project" rifle. With that said, I think there is only a couple things left before I can say the rifle is complete. That is a new stock and a DBM system.

I have been attracted to the Choate Tactical stock and CDI DBM systems for a while and a short time ago discovered this thanks to the all-knowing snipers hide.

I have looked into other stocks such as HS precision and Manners and if I had an unlimited budget I would absolutly go for a Manners or MicMillan. However, I havent been able to find the value per dollar that the choate seems to offer. I know it is heavy and such but would you advise me not to go this route? And if so, Why?

Thank you for your response, I am really enjoying this site.

Re: SPS Tac Stock Advice

I have a choate tactical stock, i am very fond of it. When you consider the price and the features it provides they are an outstanding deal.

I used one of the cheek pieces from the ultimate sniper/varmint stock on mine. If you wonder how the hell that little bipod stud works, it actually works very well. Install it on your bipod (loosely), slide it onto the rail. When you tighten the bipod down, it puts pressure in the stock and locks it into place.

That is a pretty decent price, but not any better than you would get from CDI figure 221 for the stock, 210 for the bottom metal and 60 for the inletting and 65 or so for the genuine magazine (5 round) except of course the shipping.

Another good stock to consider is the B&C light tactical. It does not have all of the features but the construction seems to be of higher quality, not that you will ever break the choate.

indeed. I've always heard the choate is next to indestructable. Are there any choate owners out there that have anything less than good to say about them?

Re: SPS Tac Stock Advice

I tend to show brand loyalty with what I know works for me in the past, who and what the company is and does for everybody. For DBM, rings, bases pretty much everything on my rifles I go with Badger. The reasons are 1) many military and government agaencies use his equipment because they stand on their own through numerous tests and real world missions around the globe and continue to function properly. 2) Besides being outlandishly tough and functional they are machined and produced to be attractive looking equipment. and Lastly 3) When many service members need equipment and their units have neither the funding or resources in these hard economic times, I can attest that Marty, the owner, has donated many thousands of dollars in equipment for free without asking for anything at all. He has supported our fight against insurgents many times over and for this I thank him with my customer loyalty.

Love the Badger metal. Installed a M5 in my HS precision. Have you looked at the AICS? I am contemplating one for my second build. I am sure you can pick one up in good condition used.
