Well I finally got my 223 SPS Tactical put together. Started out as a plain jane 223 Tactical. Got a HS Precision 5R take off tactical stock w/ full bedding block, and put a Leupold Mark AR 3X9X40 Mildot scope on it. Went out today, at 10 degrees F, zero wind (Alaska). This is the first time I've shot this rifle since buting it 3 months ago. Sight in was with 55 gr ball American Eagle, about 1-1.5 in MOA at 100. Shot some 55 gr HSM reloads and the groups spread to 3-4in at 100, couldn't believe it! I then shot and sighted it in with 55 gr Hornady V-Max, and got about 3/4 in groups consistently, pretty happy with them. I brought 2 boxes of 75 gr Hornady TAP hollow points and Hornady 75 gr Match BTHP. I read that the 1/9 twist barrel will not stabilize the 75 gran bullets, but I beg to differ. I got between 3/4 inch and 1" groups twice with the TAP 75 gr and a 3/4 in 3 shot group and a 1/2 in 5 shot group at 100 with the 75 gr Match ammo. Don't know what they will look like at 200-300 yds but I had 4 in the same hole and 1 just outside of the group at 100 w/ the Match stuff. I couldn't be happier with the rifle. That stock and Mark AR scope is the ticket for this 20" barreled rifle. Can't wait to go callin. All shots were shot from prone on a shootin mat and rifle rested on my range bag, no sling or bipod nor bags. Might get to shoot it out to 200 tomorrow pending WX. I'll attempt to get pics up, wife got new camera.
