Maggie’s SR-71 (RC Jet)

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

It doesn't have the same grace as a P-51, B-29 or B-52. But it's a very beautiful plane non the less. I have known a couple of people that worked on them. They are a work of art. Even if they do leak fuel.

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

There are several videos of some F22 jet RC planes. Some even have the trust vectoring systems on them.

Another high dollar hobby I don't need to get into.

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

Everything was cool except the dude wearing capri pants.

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

Some of these things are $20,000, that leaves a mark when they crash. I Know a guy that flies them...I'll stick to my rifles.

I thought the same thing, but i think they are called clam diggers!

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

had a dude in b-dad.. very spensive helicopter.. had it up pretty high and a couple of blackhawks came in with their jammers on.. chopper took a dirt dive and we all walked away as he was screaming bloody murder... lol

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

Looking through related vids if found one of an A-10. Would be a lot of fun to mound a .22lr mini-gun in it and go rabbit hunting!

Helis are one hobby Im glad I got out of.

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

I have never seen anything like that..wow
How much does that plane cost?
I would plant it in five minutes..flying is to me like magic...

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

So my curiosity gets the best of me and I take a look at the video, I'm thinking " How Cool". Right in the middle of the video my 14 year old son walks in, guess what he now wants.

That is one of the coolest videos I have seen

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

Dude... That was cool.. My dad used to take me to alot of air shows, RC and normal sized planes.... I remember an F 4 fantom RC plane back around late seventies or around 1980. That thing screamed by at an insane speed... Dad would crap if he saw this video..... I was nothing but grins....... I would like to use the SR-71 version upgraded with all the high tech hardware and use it for ops in war zone areas....That would send fear into their hearts....... I like the A-10 idea to...SmokeRolls

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

look for a company called nitro planes. this is the one i want. i read a good review on it in r/c planes

<object width="425" height="350"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yGioE25gJ90"></param> <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yGioE25gJ90" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"> </embed></object>

but they make a smaller version of the sr-71 too. plus the a-10

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

Very cool indeed, wonder what the range is on those high end R/C's? Line of sight? Another hobby I couldn't afford... As others have said, I'll stick with my rifles...

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

I have some planes and Nitro cars, Its worse than the gun hobby. I dont crash my rifle on the curb everytime I take it out of the safe. I went through 3 ARF planes before actually landing one on a regular basis and not tearing something off.

What these people do is pretty neat, but to have that much cash tied up in something like that when something off the wall could ruin your day, week or even year is mind blowing.

LOL his wife has the fire extinguisher. I think he must have lit this puppy up in the garage before!

have you flown rc before? if you start out with an edf jet like that one you have probably about a 90% chance of destroying it completely on the maiden flight.if you are looking into getting into the hobby or just something to throw up and fly around to relax id recommend something with 3 channels. something like a hobbyzone super cub or the multiplex easystar. i guess if you think of rc's as toys they will seem pretty spendy at first but they will give you a lot better chance of having a successful entry into the hobby rather than crashing a jet and that being the end of it. the cool thing about electric rc's is that u can just get them and fly for one price and not have to go out and buy anything to make them go, but you will eventually want to upgrade and just like rifles you will end up wanting more and will more than likely find an excuse to get yourself them, no matter what. like any hobby it can be ADDICTING!

my youtube channel is mxf7010g8k. i have some videos of the easystar flying and also a rc car. unfortunately i havent ever gotten video of shooting or hunting

hope to do it sometime tho

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

Wow, I want one. I have a couple RC planes but nothing near that awesome.

Axe- if you are looking into starting into RC flying, I would highly recommend getting a sim for the computer like RealFlight. Will save you a lot of money and heartache compared to crashing a real RC plane.

Vic- They only leaked prior to flight. When they got up to speed the air friction would heat the fuselage causing the metal to expand and seal itself. Good times.

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

i plan on hanging out with the local club and let them school me on a tandem trainer box dealy, lol. so they can save the plane. i wanted to get a simple 2-3 ch powered electric glider for a starter. grab a good 2.4 radio with some memory so i can use it for a few models. electric seems easiest, i got my first gas car on a screaming deal. nice used ofna 4x4. havent started it yet, just ordered a starter box. gotta wait for the snow to go away. i like all the small foam warbirds they have out now, p-40, p-51 and corsair. ill start small and cheap so i dont cry too much

Good idea. Flying RC planes is definitely not a hobby where the adage of "buy once, cry once" applies. Caution and understanding that you may completely destroy anything you put in the air results in a bit more reality for most people.

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

Hard to crash a gun, I'll just kick back and watch the youtube videos. I know when the turbines just entered the RC world they were several thousands of dollars alone.

Re: SR-71 (RC Jet)

you should see the vid of the SU-37 with the gyro stabilizers. its and electric but still badass

SkymasterUSA as the baddest turbine models out there
