I like the looks and comments of the Super Sniper line ,but have never looked through one or held one. ill be putting it on my M40A1 clone for hunting purposes only. I was considering Mark 4 or VX 3 in 4.5 -14-40mm. I do not know difference in the SS line such as the SSHD etc... Any help would be appreciated. My local gun shop owner even talked me out of Mark 4 and said save money and go with VX3 saying it was same scope diffent knobs just paint the gold ring black. Asked about Super Sniper all i heard where crickets chirping??? I need your help fellas!

Re: ss10x40 vs vx 3 4.5x14x40? HELP!!

I just sold my SS 10x42. Same as described here http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-10x42-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P499.aspx

No complaints, and for the price, it was a very nice scope. I also had a 20x42, which I didn't like as much. The optics seemed clearer (although not by much) in the 10x. I found the 10 power to be sufficient for an AR-15, but I wanted to be able to increase the power on my bolt gun (for smaller targets, longer ranges).

I'm not sure about using it for hunting since I don't hunt, but I wouldn't be opposed to getting another SWFA branded SS scope in the future (this is coming from a NF and soon to be USO owner). I know a few guys that are happy with some of the more expensive SWFA SS scopes for long range target shooting.

I'd suggest attending a local match in your area, or try to find someone nearby with one you could check out.

The SS is perfect for matches or hunting. The 10x will serve you well assuming you have decent eyes. I had a 16x42 and loved it. I had to jump up to the USO st-10 to find a scope that I liked better and had the options I wanted.

Get the SS and than us later.

Good luck,
Merritt

I see you have hunting as part of your build which makes me question if fixed power is the way to go.....

For fixed optics, it is tough TOUGH to beat the Super Sniper 10x for $300.

I have never looked through a Super Sniper 10x HD, but I'm sure it is impressive, but it more than double the price.

Based on your Leupold wants, I think you have the budget for pretty much any Super Sniper.

For a hunting rifle, get the Super Sniper 3-9 HD. You can find them on the hide gently used for $450-500. I think they are $600 brand new.
