starting fireforming?

I am looking to start my fireform(COW) load but i dont know what charge to start?

I will use red-dot.
I form 6.5 RSaum.

Should i start as low as 2 grains? Where should be the max if they're is one?

I`m a cheapskate when it comes to bullet,powder and barrel life.I`ve build and competed with several wild cats.....30-223,22 dasher,22-250 Ackley,6ppc.....most will shoot surprisingly well while fireforming with full loads and bullet seated into the lands....
