As a preface I have spent the past two days researching this topic on this forum and have found much, although conflicting at times, information.
Howdy from Wyoming,
I am starting to reload for accuracy and precision for my .338 LM; I am looking at manual thrower and beam scale to start out. The measure I am looking at now is the Harrell premium precision measure but I have read one recent review that it did not work well with the large slow powders used in magnum loading, any input or thoughts on that? As far as a beam scale I am in the dark. I have saved to purchase good quality components so the pricing is flexible. I would also be reloading for 7.62x51, 5.56 and 10mm. Any and all help and opinions are appreciated, thank you.

I was going to do the same but the RCBS Chargemaster Lite just seemed like hitting the esay button! Added MK Machining's Anti-Stat restrictors and powder pan and I'm glad I did! A little pricey but it's quicker and with my old ass eyes getting a charge wrong could happen if I got a number off and end up being devastating!

For the price of the Harrell's and a good beam scale you can have most electronic throwers. The only way throwing powder manually makes sense is if you trust it and don't weigh every charge.

I started out with a Redding thrower and a GemPro 250. The thrower wasn't consistent enough so I would throw about .5g under and then trickle to the charge weight. I'm in the camp of generally enjoying reloading, but that process made me dread it. I picked up a used chargemaster here and it was a game changer. I highly recommend going that route to start.

I've been using lee powder dippers and a beam scale on 338LM for a couple years now. I usually only load between 20 and 50 at a time so not a big deal. I actually enjoy reloading and it doesn't bother me to spend the extra time.

I can do this, I do not need a scale to verify?

It's a complete system and the scale (FX-120) is integral to the system. If you bought the $1,000 reloading kit from CE Products, you'll have everything you need. You made a great purchase.

Also, if you are anal retentive like myself, you should consider grabbing one of these too. Set your FX-120 to dump slightly under and trickle up to exactly your load. You can skip this trickler if you want, you will just fiddle around with small adjustments a lot until you get it just right to not under/over throw. https://dandyproductsllc.com/products/dandy-2-speed-electric-powder-trickler

Lastly, make sure you warm up the scale for at least 30 minutes, keep it safe and out of the elements, make sure there are no breazes from fans, ACs, etc. (very important), and your surface needs to be very level and rock solid. The more ridged the surface, the better. The scale is so accurate and sensitive, it can detect a mouse fart.

Thank you, that is what I bought.

It comes with an autotrickler is my understanding, it is automated.

Here is a video the Autotrickler dropping 42+ grains of powder in less than 7 seconds. And that's before I tuned it. I currently can drop 43 grains in 4.5 to 5 seconds with 0.02 gr accuracy over 100+ rounds.

Worth every single penny.

Further reduced any possible wind/air interference by drilling the right side windscreen.

Should I put this on a separate bench away from my press? Or will it not be affected?
You could. But you also put a solid piece of granite underneath to help keep it solid.
Does the windscreen not come predrilled? Excellent video!
No, instructions call for only using 2 of 4 windscreens. I modified the 3rd one. Dremel at 3.5 rpm, go slow.

You can do it on the same and I do but I just don’t make any jarring or whatever movements when the scale is final trickling and I work fine with it on the same table on carpet as the press. It’s sensitive to you breathing on it, the press handle bottoming our etc.
Do your thing while it’s going fast or wait until it’s finished and no problems.
