Gentlemen, I have narrowed my next scope purchase for my REPR project down to these two scopes. I would like to hear comments/opinions from anyone who has had any experience with these scopes, either individually or head to head. Thanks.

Without having any experience with the Premier offering, I can highly recommend the Steiner offering. Been using one for the past half-year and it has performed extremely well in competition. The feature set that the Steiner 5x erector scopes are built with makes them one heck of a well thought out scope.

Optically the Leupold Mk6 is supposed to be inferior to both your choices. It's only an ounce lighter than the Premier but it is much smaller, which could work for certain applications. I plan to pick up the Mk6 for an AR.
Yesterday I was at the range and there was some heavy mirage and I was shooting two rifles, one had a Steiner, the other a Schmidt... I was really surprised that the Steiner gave me a better image. Wish I had my Premier with me to compare during those conditions.
It's a difficult choice you're asking, but I think you'd be happy with either.

I really like both of them I have also have used both of them. Like generalzip said I would also look at the Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44mm this is another outstanding scope. I use the PR LT on a light tactical rifle for a about a year an not it is on a hunting rifle. I just mounted up a Leupold MK6 3-18x44mm and love it. If you get any of the 3 scopes here you will be really happy with it.

I picked up a Mk6 3-18x with the H58 for a really good deal for my 16" REPR. I am hoping that I made the right choice. I REALLY like the fact that it is such a compact scope and not a huge Hubble like piece of glass. Ill try and give a range report after I shoot and set the scope up this weekend.
Thanks for all of your replies.....I have tried the Leupold Mark 6, with the 7.62 CMR-W reticle and did not have very good luck with it. The scope I ordered was supposed to have illumination, which the scope that showed up did not, right SKU and box, but wrong scope inside. When I asked our distributor about illumination, they asked for another $900...so I said no thank you. The glass was much better than the Mark 4's that I have had, better than the Nightsforce nsx that I have had, not as good as the ATACR that I currently own, or as good as the USO 5-25 that I compared it to. The reticle that I had does not belong in the first focal plane, because the reticle is graduated out to 1200meters, but when you crank the power up to 18X, all you can see are the graduations for 500 meters....also the windage knob is covered, which is different than most tactical scopes. I suppose I should look at the TMR if I want something that is more appropriate for the first focal plane. So after all of that I studied a lot of scopes and narrowed it down to the Steiner and the Premier....please keep your comments coming as I am very interested in your experiences with these two scopes. I just paid the balance today on a Premier Light Tactical from Mike at CS Tactical. I plan on using it for both hunting and long range shooting. Give Mike a call.

Both these scopes are awesome. Both have great glass and track well. But for a REPR go with the Premier as it's going to be lighter. The glass on the Light Tac is superb, I mean really great!

In my opinion, the Premier LT would be my first choice if I were topping off a REPR. I owned a Steiner for a while and it was a very good scope. In a direct comparison to my Premiers and Schmidts, the Steiner gave up a little to both in terms glass clarity and resolution. I could also pick up some slight CA (purple halo and lateral fringing) on my white steel targets. However, such an opinion is a result of my nitpicking because the Steiner glass was still very good.
The Premier LT has exceptional glass quality, nice turrets, and is a great size and weight for your application.
Although the LT has less elevation than many others, it should not present a problem if properly set up.
