Thinking of selling my Steiner TX5i and picking up a Leupold mk5 or a Vudu. Also considering a meopta optika 6.
Any other suggestions in this price range. Budget is about 1600-1800.
Only hard req are ffp and 5-25 ish mag range

What dont you like about th etx5i? And what are you hoping this new scope will accomplish that your current is not?

Because those sound about like lateral moves to me.
If you dont know the answers to those questions then sell it, get the optika 6 and keep some cash in your pocket.

New- Delta Stryker HD 4.5-30
I have not yet personally handled or looked though it so take this with a grain of salt but I have yet to read a disparaging review anywhere. My recommendation of this scope is only from the research I’ve done watching/reading all the reviews I could find and speaking to one gentleman who owns one. From my gatherings, the Delta has been placed on the heels of if not equal to the image quality of the Gen 2 Razor.

Used- Vortex Razor HD Gen2 4.5-27
Heavier than any of the others you are looking at but it’s a damn solid scope with good history. I’ve owned one for several years and it has never failed me. Looking back, it was totally worth the 2,200 I paid for it years ago and at the prices you can find it new or used today makes it more of a value.

Both Delta Stryker and Gen 2 Razor have excellent reticles and IMO the Razor is a step above the Vudu 5-25 as far as turrets and image quality goes. Keeping in mind the design differences, the Vudu is a fine scope but is geared differently from any of the others mentioned.

I’m also curious as to what you don’t like about the T5Xi? I have two and they are pretty decent optics minus the CA. The Vudu I had controlled CA about the same as my T5Xi’s.

i have the Vudu and the Steiner, but havent really put the vudu through hard tests. The steiner, i have. and it did really really well and i thoroughly appreciate the MSR reticle. extremely easy to learn and really do like everything about it.

I did send my steiner back to have the turret upgrade done, as this was an old stock scope from Cameraland. its still at Steiner, but i am really hoping to get it back soon . been gone about 7 weeks.

In the meantime, i put a Kahles 316i on my main rig with a Skmr3. wasnt thrilled at first about the tree style reticle, but im learning it. and it may be a positive. really wanted a SKMR in there but couldnt find one.

He messaged me his response for some reason?

Do you own a Steiner TX5i. If so have you had the clicks disappear when the scope is hot? Think sitting in a rifle bag in the bed if a truck. This happened to me..I thought something was broken. I called Steiner and they said it's totally normal in Kansas heat, 95 outside to 100+ in the bed. It's apparently the grease getting runny and redistributing in the elevation mechanism. The windage clicks fine.

I tried posting here. Bit my data was slow and the page just kept getting hung up, but private message would go fine.
Home now on wifi.
In any case I called Steiner and they said it's the grease getting runny which causes the clicks to disappear. Also said the the turret should work fine and to send it in if I wanted and they would see what they could do.
I'll take it to the range and see if the turret works fine.
It may guy take a trip back for grease adjustment.

I wasn't a huge fan of the T5xi that I had.

Love my new Delta Stryker. Razor Gen 2 is another good option that's been mentioned. Between the two, the biggest difference is the reticle. Both have good turrets with good zero stops, very good glass, good mag range, good eye box, and decent FOV. The Stryker's LRD-1T is just perfect for me - floating dot with gradations finer than .5 mils without being overly busy and obscuring the target. I used the AMG with EBR-7B for a bit and didn't like that reticle at all. The T5xi isn't even in the same league as either the Razor or Stryker, in my opinion, although it does have a nice reticle and turrets. But that's about where the positives ended for me.

In terms of bang for the buck in a full size scope in the $1500-$2000 range, right now, it is probably between Stryker HD and Razor Gen 2. Burris XTR III might spoil that party, but it is not out yet. Cronus is up there as well, but it seems to be half a step behind the the other tow I mentioned. Crimson Trace is another interesting option and I really like the 3-18x50 I am testing, but I do not recommend scope I have not spent enough time with, so I will nor recomment the CT yet (I can recommend the 3.5x Battlesight by CT, since I have a good amount of time with it that included a night class)

Excellent. Thanks for the information. I really do like the Steiner, I don't sport much CA atleast to my eyes. The turrets are nice...when they are clicking. Does europtic stock the Stryker HD? My 2min search on Google didn't reveal a US source for the stryker

I have similar thoughts from time to time about my T5, but I can’t really find a good reason to justify it, other than a bit of CA.. It gets run pretty hard too, and hasn’t let me down.. If I sold It, would go for a Razor G2 old reticle that nobody wants anymore ?
Plus I could add about 2lbs to my match ax

I think it really comes down to size and weight that you desire and can afford. Razor is awesome but large/heavy compared to the Steiner (which I really like). Mark 5s are very nice and light for size. Kahles are just awesome but more money. Burris are big and heavy but affordable. So... I'm no help.

So the Steiner spent a night in the gun safe and now the click are back loud and proud. Great detent feel.
Am I wrong in thinking that heat should not cause clicks to go away? And it only happens on the elevation turret, the windage is fine.

Have you removed the elevation turret completely and inspected everything underneath? I’ll provide pictures below but rhere is a slot in the top of the turret post that allows a flat blade screwdriver to be used to turn the post. The adjustments should feel and sound crisp at all times unless you are out of the operating temperature for the scope. My guess is there is debris floating around inside the detent mechanism. I agree with @JFR you need to call Steiner and get an RMA started. Unfortunately, I’ve had to deal with Steiner Warranty for a T5Xi elevation turret second rev binding hard BNIB. (The T5Xi pictured is not the same one that went back for warranty. This one has been rock solid for 3 years.) My experience with Steiner CS was no different than my experience with Vortex’s CS when I had the ocular housing come loose on my Gen 1 Razor.

@psychosniper, I have inspected under the turret and besides some grease it looks fine. I'll try moving the spindle with a screwdriver tonight.
I wonder what the op temp of the scope is, I mean I live in Kansas. It hits 100-105 in summer with enclosed places (car trunks) getting much warmer.
Btw the windage turret is Rock solid.
My understanding is that the starting point of the RMA is the website?
I hope they can fix it. My fear is that they don't replicate the conditions and hence don't experience the problem and just return the scope as is.

Don’t be afraid. Just send it in with a complete and accurate description of your problem. Email works better, as you can keep all correspondence in the same email chain for reference. My experience with their CS was great. Keep it civil and straightforward and things should go fine. I started my RMA on their website under warranty service or some such. Include all details in your initial correspondence, including model number and serial number.

Operating temperature for all T5Xi models is -13°F to 149°F
